BASE813 0 #1 June 28, 2004 Whislt I am recovering from injury, and spending lots of time alone and unable to do shit for myself, I have started taking St Johns Wort because of what I have heard / read about it. I would be interested in anyones experience with St johns Wort, and whether its worth spending the money in taking this......... any thoughts welcome........... Nightingale 0 #2 June 28, 2004 I'd help if you said what exactly you're taking it for. studies have shown it can help with depression and the like, as well as some female probs, but that's all I know about it. you shouldn't take it if you're taking certain other medications. http://www.hypericum.com/nuts.htm

Nightingale 0 #5 June 28, 2004 tell your doctor this, and allow him or her to advise you. depression isn't really something you should self medicate.
AggieDave 6 #6 June 28, 2004 Quotestudies have shown it can help with depression Actually, studies have shown that it does jack crap for depression. I read up on it when I had serious depression problems. What worked for me was just seeing a professional and working through the things in my life that were effecting me.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Nightingale 0 #10 June 28, 2004 SJW has helped some people, according to some studies, and some first hand accounts I've heard However, anyone who thinks they're depressed needs to see a doctor first, before trying anything.

If I were you, I'd talk to your doctor about it and see what he/ she suggests- maybe you need to medicate, maybe you don't. Being aware that the problem potentially exists is a good first step. I'd also make an effort to get out of the house as much as is physically possible. When I broke my right ankle, I couldn't drive, but I had good friends and a decent "support system" at home. Bar hopping and parties weren't feasible, but I could still go out to dinner or have a drink, or just hang out a friend's house. Wherever I went, we'd just make sure I had a chair for myself and one for my leg! And if I wasn't comfortable, I'd go home. Since I have a desk job, I was also able to go back to work fairly quickly. I sincerely believe keeping myself busy and getting out of the house kept me sane for those first few weeks! Good luck to you and keep on healing! maura
 PhreeZone 20 #13 June 28, 2004 No.. they are to stare into the mirror smiling for 20 minutes every day.
