Recommended Posts

Huh ? England win something ? After a 2-0 rugby test killing in NZ the last 2 weeks I think England are grasping at anything (Rooney compared to Pele) I mean get real.
Now the Poms play Oz on Sat... poor bastards !!!B|
BTW I went to watch the SA/Ireland 2nd test at Newlands, Cape Town on Sat & I can say that there are some good teams from the 6-Nations...
England win my arse !!!
At least the Iranians feel sorry for them & gave their lost Navy boys back...:o

OK... good point. The journalists are getting a little carried away there.

True, but I've never seen one of those boys prance onto the rugby field with earings & necklaces (you know who you are, Beckham). Besides, you don't think riggers sitting behind sewing machines is girlie ? :D DOH! Hope my rigger doesn't see this... oh well at least he doesn't know I shagged his girlfriend. :o

Well it is difficult to overpower the opposition when your players are redcarded for streetfighting in a maul/ruck... B|
I can say that one mistake the English did make was not to take out Queen Carlos... the Cape Stormers took him out in the Super12 clash against the Auckland Blues & went on to give them a good rogering...:$
So, if they don't take out Larkham & Gregan on Sat, they won't stand a chance...:(
As for the bonny Scots, well their punishment is that they have Rod Steward & Sean Connery...:D

Well Ireland was playing against the weakest of the Tri-Nations teams. When is the last time a South African team made the finals of the Super 12? I must say though that this year supporting the Stormers was not the usual miserable experience. At least they made the semis.

Who cares about England!

Allez les Bleus

Allez les Bleus

Allez les Bleus

Actually, France has been less then formidable. I'm rooting for Greece to do well: aggressive playing, not going down in search of a foul at the 1st hint of contact..... Shame they are playing each other in the 1/4s....

You're preaching to the converted... Still, I must say that even though SA rugby couldn't possibly get any lower (although losing to Ireland would have done it), the Irish did play some decent rugger...
Also, even though in most cases you're only as good as your opposition allows you to be, the Springboks seem to be only as good as their salaries allow them to be... they should be shot for treason !!!

I know... they havent payed especially well.... Either they will step up for the rest of the tournament, or they wont last long... If Greece plays like I have seen them played in the round robin and beats them, I wont shed a tear, and I'll root for them to go all the way!

PS: any of you brits seen that hilarious TV/internet ad about the Italian practicing? They all practice going down! lol... I have the mpeg, but its too big to post here....

No, I have to agree with you, that did not warrant a red card... a good ref has to allow some rough scuffles & punches in any high exposure rugby game... 10 minutes in the sin-bin would have done it...[:/]
Personally I think that Dallaglio needs to put more respect for the game into his team... that should be the winning ticket...:|

P.S. Speedy I'm sorry we stole your thread for tonights footer opinion poll, it won't happen again (until Monday)... I kinda feel like that clown William Webb Ellis who picked up the ball & ran with it... what the hell was he thinking ?!?!? :P

Hey ! There's a Canadian cheering for the Frenchies !!! Has he no pride ?!?!?

"But most important, find me the Frenchman."
Name the movie & win a 1972 Datsun Y40.

He's got a french passport too :P;)

Sssshhhh man, people may mistake you for a Zinedine Zidane fan !!!

Applicants for a French passport must be able to sing the following: (Remster please translate for us uneducated folk)

Tant de flashes et de lumières
Pour des héros ordinaires,
De place à des courants d'air
Qui feraient tourner la terre,

Le médiocre fait l'école
Au quart d'heure d'Andy Warhol,
Faut-il jouer à la guerre
Pour devenir un symbole...

{Refrain:}

{au Refrain}

At least we know how to lose in style.B|
Lets face it, us Scots are quite used to sporting disappointment, apart from curling of course, curling rocks.
BTW, Rod Stewart is actually English, he was born in London, but like many people, he longs to be truly Scottish.B|

"We are officially the worst team in the history of football... ever. "

Much as I (as a Scot) would like to agree with you, don't feel bad, at least you qualified.>:(

Besides, probably the worst team in history (British soccer terms anyway) is Bon Accord (Aberdeen by any other name), they lost 36-0 to Arbroath a long time ago (1885) in a Scottish cup match.
Being from Arbroath, and living in Aberdeen, I take some delight in reminding the locals of his great day.
Compounded, by the way, by Dundee's thrashing of Aberdeen 35-0 on the same day.

So its not that bad, there's always the next time.......

And for what its worth, my money was on England to take the cup, dammit, they cost me a tenner, and you know that us Scots hate losing money.;)
