cderham 0 #26 June 22, 2004 Cool, I seen them at a show this weekend (redneck engineering). I've been looking for something different todo and seen their red and black mutant Buell. I've got some killer ideas that I need to put in metal. I've done some paint for Midwest Choppers in my spare time (rare nowdays). Also been slinging some cool skydiving helmets. (If anyone's seen opie's helmet that was me ) I love bikes but I think the chopper craz is out of hand. At this show last weekend I seen a rich yuppie punk pull up on a store bought with kahki cargo shorts, white polo, black socks and black tennis shoes (of course high maintainance bitch in tow) -- what is wrong with this picture!!! I say if you got the money and can't build it your self buy a boat!! With anything custom you need to be a wrench and wrench all the time after every ride or it's going to fall apart. Ya in might have cost $30 grand but it is not a Harley or will not be dependable as a Harley. cderham 0 #27 June 22, 2004 I have a cousin (head fabricator at Midwest Choppers) that has met the OCC crew in Daytona. Out at the bars and said they are all real down to earth dudes. Also there is a girl I know (Hottie) that went to there both/autograph signning and said Paul SR was a nice guy but JR was a prick. Take that as you will maybe the stardom has went to Paulies head? Mtt481 0 #34 June 22, 2004 I have to say that what OCC comes up with for theme bikes is pretty cool, however if you actually take a look at their regular customer bikes, they are all just set models. They actually have a line of customer bikes, which cannot be considered one off like WCC bikes are considered. Jesse's quality and craftsmanship is second to none. He was first to take bike building on to tv, and everyone else followed. He took bike building to the next level with his designs. He builds everything in house and fabricates his bikes from the ground up. The only thing he does not fabricate in house is his motors, which he has Nigel Patrick from Patrick Racing build specifically for his bikes. Being in the motorcycle industry I have had the chance to actually see and ride bikes from both builders and I have to say that hands down, Jesse James, and WCC take the cake. I have a friend that is good friends with Jesse and has know him for over 15 years before he even became famous, he has written numerous books about Jesse, WCC and his bikes and gives very good information about how much time and thought goes into every single bike that comes out of WCC. SkymonkeyONE 4 #36 June 22, 2004 Of the two? I would say WCC, but that vote has nothing to do with Jesse James. The great majority of the "theme" bikes that OCC builds are complete abortions. There is very, very little actual hardware customization in any of their bikes. The little bangles and add-ons they fabricate are completely gay as well. The "consumer" bikes they sell to the public have absolutely ZERO proprietary parts on them and are all built from off the shelf parts. Both WCC and OCC charge more than $10,000 more for their "brand" than any other "manufacturer" (read: assembler of aftermarket parts). That extra ten K gets you nothing and simply pays for the new million dollar motorhomes and cars that the owners of the companies buy these days. In Jesse's case, it pays a lot of alimony and buys a lot of meth. There are far more affordable aftermarket kit bikes out there than either of those two choices. As far as that goes, I think that any "vanity" chopper with a 130 inch motor and a 250 out back, but is running a fucking BELT is laughable. I blister these rich jackasses on a regular basis as they simply cannot get their bikes to hook-up or they will pop their weenie-strength belts. Thanks, but I figured that out a LONG time ago and replaced my belt with a 10,000 pound Tsubaki racing chain. It ain't breaking. Yes, I have to clean my billet back wheel more often, but who gives a rats ass; I actually ride my sled. This, of course, made it possible for people to finance "new" fully custom, mostly aftermarket motorcycles at their banks.
