dropdeded 0 #1 June 22, 2004 Question for the Bay Area people. Transfered a patient to SF tonight, drove across the Bay Bridge, been a LONG time. Whats up with the construction on the north side??? dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
thedude 0 #2 June 22, 2004 It's the new eastern span. I believe they're building it because the old one didn't hold up too well in the 1989 earthquake.
Slappie 9 #3 June 22, 2004 QuoteIt's the new eastern span. I believe they're building it because the old one didn't hold up too well in the 1989 earthquake. Hahaha I live in Houston and know it's a re-construction project to refit the bridge. It wasn't constructed to withstand the earth quakes NorCal has had in the past. Supposedly it's not just the patch their doing now. It's going to span the entire bridge. See TV makes me smarter I actually saw a show about bridges, there was a segment on that bridge. The show was filmed and recorded back in 2000. It said the re-construction was going to take close to 8 years. CanuckInUSA 0 #4 June 22, 2004 I thought you were going to make some sort of comment about jumping off of this span. How high is it? How windy does it get in the mornings? How's the potential landing areas? Is it watched or could I just walk on it and jump and not worry about bgetting busted. Okay all things aside, I'm not really going to jump off of this span when there is a legal one located elsewhere in another state. So the locals need not worry here. I'm just having a little fun. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
benny 0 #5 June 22, 2004 Canuck, I really wouldn't suggest jumping off any bridges over the San Francisco Bay, unless you want to be arrested or dead. My brother did see a guy jump of the Golden Gate when he was like 5, asnd everybody wonders why he's so screwed up in the head! Never go to a DZ strip show. lummy 4 #6 June 22, 2004 exactly, They are redoing the Oakland side of the bridge (the bay bridge is actually 2 with an island in the middle). To be honest, I think they're redoing most of the bridges in the bay area with the exception of the golden gate which is a private enterprise.I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. kelpdiver 2 #7 June 22, 2004 If you're looking for a great time, try crossing the Richmond at night. At least the San Mateo is done and wide now.
dropdeded 0 #8 June 22, 2004 So as in "redoing" the bridge, are they pretty much building a new one next to the old one? Kinda like was done with the Dumbarton some years back? I grew up in the Bay Area and its been awhile since I've been back. Drove my Bambulance across the bridge last night and really was surprised to see whats goin on there. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
