PhillyKev 0 #51 June 17, 2004 I saw a little blurb yesterday that said Iran has been massing their troops on the Iraq border geting ready for the power vacuum after the transition on June 30. Haven't seen wide coverage of that either. Strange.

Squeak 17 #53 June 18, 2004 Quote"I have friends in the intelligence industry that have confirmed that every major navy is in deep water." Surely not the same friends that told you that SH had WMDs, the same pals that told you that there was irrefutable evidence of links betwen Iraq and terror organisations. . Not to mention if "your friends in intel" did tell you ANYTHING it would be considered a breach of security and possible grounds for charges. Do "your friends" take the piss outa you muchYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? newsstand 0 #54 June 18, 2004 How about including the entire article. Quote U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY United States Coast Guard GOVERNMENTAL ADVISORY June 4, 2004 Contact: LCDR John Merrill 202-267-0281 Coast Guard Warns Mariners Not to Rely on GPS or Cell Phones, June 11-20 Boaters will be unable to rely on Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment because of scheduled disruptions from Friday, June 11 to Sunday, June 20 that will affect mariners transiting the waters off North Carolina including Albemarle Sound, Pamlico Sound and Coastal North Carolina from Currituck Beach Light to Cape Lookout. GPS interference-testing conducted during an exercise by the Department of Defense will make the GPS signal unreliable from about 50 to 60 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, N.C. and approximately 80 miles between Jacksonville and Melbourne, FL. “The Coast Guard fully supports the efforts of the Department of Defense during this important exercise,” said Rear Admiral Sally Brice-O’Hara, Commander of the Fifth Coast Guard District. “But, we must get the word out to impacted mariners so they can take necessary precautions to keep themselves safe during this busy boating season.” Mariners planning voyages using the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) should not rely on GPS nor cell phones from June 11th to the 20th during the hours mentioned below. Plan ahead and use VHF radios to communicate on the water. A cell phone is a good backup communications device, but on the open water, it is no substitute for a VHF radio. A notice to mariners has been issued. Coast Guard Auxiliary personnel will also canvass area marinas and boat ramps alerting the boating public to the potential disruption in GPS and cell phone services in the area. ___________________________________________________________________ 11 JUN 04 FROM 1500-1800Z (1100-1400 LOCAL) 13 JUN 04 FROM 1200-1600Z (0800-1200 LOCAL) 14 JUN 04 FROM 1800-2100Z (1400-1700 LOCAL) 17 JUN 04 FROM 1300-1700Z (0900-1300 LOCAL) 18 JUN 04 FROM 2100-2400Z (1700-2000 LOCAL) 19 JUN 04 FROM 2300-0200Z (1900-2200 LOCAL) 20 JUN 04 FROM 1800-2100Z (1400-1700 LOCAL) Notice the very precise three and four hour windows. Sun Myung Moon leader of the Unification Church don't you? Hard core right wing and not afraid to make the news more interesting than it might be if it serves a cause. Do a search on Rev. Moon and George Bush and see what you come up with. "Truth is tough. FlyinNover 0 #57 June 18, 2004 QuoteAll the people out there that are really good at prediciting the end of the world claim there's supposed to be a massive strike between June 18-20. How exactly does one figure out who is "really good at predicting the end of the world"? Isn't it true that everyone who has ever predicted the end of the world has been wrong 100% of the time? That's not a batting average I'd wager heavily on. ---Nover
PhillyKev 0 #58 June 18, 2004 Everyone who has predicted the end of the world to happen sometime in the future has been 100% correct so far, though. After all, they guaranteed we would last this long.
 Canuck278 0 #59 June 18, 2004 Just got back from sea...i miss anything? He flies for the Navy and we email and talk regularly. This is part of an email I just got from him.. and they are scheduled to come home on time next month.. If something were going to happen he would snail mail me and tell me to expect them not to be coming home on time. Who knows what is going on but the GW is getting ready to come home. Just a quick hello note, hello! Everyone is very ready to get the hell out of here. Just a couple more weeks. I'm going over the beach today. Still feel very sorry for the guys on the ground, but TACAIR is just not what's needed here right now. Helicopters would be a much better option.
