RevJim 0 #26 June 17, 2004 Why oh why oh why oh why did I open this thread? Now I miss my FiZzeR 600 fiercly. ~sigh~ Track prepped, and smoked everything in town (biggest was a blackbird, but it was really REALLY twisty and the 'bird never really got a chance to stretch his legs out). Oh, the wonderful, cold sweating dreams I'm gonna have tonight.... Damn I miss that bike. Maybe I'll go behind my wife's back and try and buy it back....then again, maybe not. It's your life, live it! " When it comes to comfort and Ducks - You don't break in the bike, the bike breaks in you. After a couple of 6 hour jaunts on the thing, your body will figure it out - but getting to that point - oh man, talk about having some choice words when you step off the machine. MuffDiver 0 #28 June 17, 2004 I do have experience with bikes (not a huge amount), some time on a cruiser (shadow 750), but more time spent on a GSXR 600, I don't have either right now, I do realize that the 996 was more than I would need, But at the same time it is more than almost anyone needs on the street. I laugh when I hear that people are buying bigger bikes because they have already pushed their 600's and 750's to the limit but they only ride on the street, most of these people are not anywhere near the limit of what their current bikes can handle. However, I'm sure that 98% of the people that own Ferraris don;t drive them anywhere near the limit. The biggest reason that I didn't buy the Ducati for myself was that I just bought a new skydiving rig this month and it left me a little short of cash. I guess I could have worded my first post differently, I was more interested in peoples opinions on this particular bike as I have never ridden a Ducati before. Getting back to motorcycle experience, I grew up riding motocross bikes and spent a few years racing moto right before I started skyding. I know that moto experience is much different than riding on the street, but any experience on two wheels helps overall. Does anyone else here race motocross? __________________________________________________ Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out alive. FIREFLYR 0 #29 June 17, 2004 Quote Anybody ride one of these? I'm not too familiar with them but I have a great deal on one if I want it. The bike is a 2001 Ducati 996 Biposto - Brand new still in the box. They want $11500 CAD (approx. $8300 US). Is there much to look for when looking at a brand new bike? BUY IT!! SERIOUSLY! unless it was on a boat that sank into the ocean, buy it. It is probably one of the coolest bikes ever made. I love my 900ss the 996 is the shit! Word! ~J"One flew East, and one flew West..............one flew over the cuckoo's nest" "There's absolutely no excuse for the way I'm about to act"
