Speeding to the dz ?

Recommended Posts

I might speed a little more on the way to the DZ, but I think the main reason is that the roads are more open and it's easier to see whats up ahead

I speed going everywhere, EXECPT on the way to the dz... I want to get there & save my $$ for jumps.

Plus, when I'm speeding, it's typically @ the level that'll put me away :|.

On the way to the dz, there are 2 VERY small towns w/ speed limits of 30 & coppers all over the place (no, not snakes, but they can also ruin your day).

Funny story, one jumper is notorious for speending, he got caught going 95 in a 55... he pulled into the dz parking lot w/ 2 cop cars behind him... needless to say, there are at least 3 different video angles taken.

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

Yah, I drive like a lunatic on the way to Perris.
I'm in such a hurry to get out there.

On the drive back, I take it easy.

I once got a $300 dollar ticket on the way to taft!
Fucking PIG got me with radar going the other direction.

I now own a radar detector, and I use backroads.

that '*******' PIG (such graceful language) also puts his life on the line every time he pulls over a speeding car...

...ironic how 'f' pig turns into 'officer' when you are thanking him for chasing away a mugger.. :|

Now now lets not get offened by a little name calling. First off, "pigs" generally pull you over for something you didn't do or deserve.Causing your insurance rates to soar because he had a fight with his wife. Die pig die.
"Officers" are the ones who show up 2 hrs after a gun fight. Cool he brought doughnuts.
Police are the ones who seek evil and contain it. The underpaid great people who will get front row in heaven or whatever.
There are many types of police officers. Obey the law and hope you don't get harrassed by the bad ones.
See if this gets anyone's panties in a knot

My most expensive speeding ticket was driving home from the DZ after my graduation jump from AFF. Yep, I got bit by the bug REALLY hard when I first started jumping. Everytime I would get in the car after skydiving (and I already am a "fast" driver) I would be like Jesus people, you are slow. Don't you know the speed limit is 120?

Needless to say my ticket was $289 and the cop was being fairly cool when he only wrote me up for going 95 mph. :|:o

there ain't no speeding in San Diego. I've been passed doing 85.:o Also, the last few miles to the dropzone is winding road and am lucky if I can go the speed limit. My truck will go on two wheels before it starts to slide as I found out this past weekend.

I was on my way to the sunset load at our dz and passed a cop doing 95 in a 65!!! But wait, it gets better, upon being pulled over, I realized that I didn't have my license OR Registration OR insurance info. The cop was extremely proud of me. Almost to the point of takin' me in. I really needed that sticker on my car that says "Drive it like you stole it" cause that is exactly what he thought.
Anyway, I wound up getting a ticket for Wreckless Driving, Speeding, (*95 in a 65), Failing to present Drivers License and Failing to obtain Insurance Information. Well, I went to the local Judge here in Cullman Al, (*Whom, for the most part, looked like Jabba The Hut sitting in his chair) and weaseled my way out of all of the tickets besides the speeding, and he took that down to a 75 in a 65. Long Live Jabba!!!!
Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

All i can say is buy a bike, tune it up with a power commander and K and N filter and hey 175mph. On the way to the DZ i passed a cop coming from the opposite direction. I was only doing about 95 but i saw him put on the lights. Needless to say, i opened her up and bingo he was out of site. It sure did get the adrenaline pumping though:)

No joke, the other day as I was flying along in my truck (Ok, DZ or no, I am always driving way too freaking fast) and notice the distinct outline and hood/grill of a poilce car behind me probably 200 yards back....immediately, my brain starts conjuring some nifty excuse from this very website..."Um, I'm on my way to my first skydive! I'm just so excited!!!" Shit, nope...I have my helmet in the front seat and a USPA sticker...Ok, "Oh! I'm about to do a jump for charity and I'm just so stoked!!" Um hell no, as I am in a business suit and heels...hmmm....

-and then he flies past me...:)

>phew DZ.com is baaad for me. Very baaad. :D:D

I'm mostly better these days - going 75-80 in a 65 for 120 miles. I'm still racing the eventual windhold. But 5 years back I was late to assist a diving class in the same area and I was pushing over 90 as I came up on a black and white. I immediately dialed it down but he certainly noticed. When he pulled off the freeway I waited a couple miles and then gunned it again.

10 miles later he had me. Wasn't as stupid or donut happy as I thought. At least he was good humored about it, and wrote it for 79+, allowing traffic school and the lower fine.

Yep....I set the cruise to 80 MPH across the turnpike. Of course.....I have a "Get out of a ticket free" badge in my pocket. That CAN backfire though. Sometimes you meet the trooper that applied for this job and didn't get hired....So he is now disgruntled. :S:D Haven't gotten pulled over yet though (Knock on WOOD!!!)
