Help me get a great IQ

Recommended Posts

Sandy always wins (and it doesn't depend on the distance (time sandy is d/10, time Jack is d/7.5),

Unless they are flying airplanes - then it depends on the winds. See another thread on this.

Once you finish this test, they won't give you your score though unless you register somewhere. Try some other IQ tests online. There are some real ones. This one is designed to make people feel good about themselves by asking simple questions and then scoring too high.

It is impossible to tell.

This is why.

In a race where each segment = 5 miles, Sandy would win.

In a race where each segment = 10 miles, they would tie.

So, you need to know the distance between X and Y.

I'm going to rescind this and apologize for confusing anyone.

I've worked out a series of equations that will lead to an accurate answer here:

T = D/V

Where:
T = Time
D = Distance
V = Velocity (in this case, scalar)

Therefore, we can determine the length of each contestant's race by creating the following equation:

T = (D/V) + (D/V)

Where:
each parenthetical value represents a race segment.

Therefore, if Jack is in a race with 10 mile segments, his equation would read:

T = (10Mi / 30MPH) + (10Mi / 10MPH)

Sandy's equation for the same race would read:

T = 2(10Mi / 20MPH)

We can determine what race length is necessary to produce a tie by setting Sandy's equation and Jack's equation equal to one another, and then solving for the missing distance value:

(D / 30MPH) + (D / 10MPH) = 2(D / 20 MPH)

Solve for D and you have the length of race necessary to produce a tie.

So, the answer is still IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL, but at least now we know why.

DAAAMMNNN man, youre giving me friggin headaches....I am DONE with school!!!:D

(we will see how it works out, if it is timed or not. if it is, then i will just do it again - SUPER FAST!)

(D / 30MPH) + (D / 10MPH) = 2(D / 20 MPH)

OK, I've worked out my stupid equation here, and there is no value for D where both sides of this equation are equal except for zero. Therefore, they will never tie.

In fact, if you reduce each contestant's equation down and give them both common denominators, you will get the following:

Jack: T = 8D / 60MPH

Sandy: T = 6D / 60MPH

Therefore, for all real and positive values of D, Sandy will win.

Man, this shit was tough.

Math is cool.

I did it an easier approach. . .the dude went 33% (or is it 75%) faster on the first leg and half as fast on the second leg. If he went twice as fast on the first leg, then he would be equal to sandy.

Ok, we'll see here in a second...the last question is....

(the happiness vs. Virtue is still unanswered.....

Wisdom is knowing what to do next; __________ is doing it.
Virtue
Luck
Happiness
Sanity
Nostalgia )

You're right, I definitely 'nuked' this issue - to use the Navy parlance.

I just have fun figuring stuff like this out. And, since I'd like to ocassionally waste time doing something other than post whoring, I thought I'd do a little math with my post whoring.

he went 50% faster on the first part, and 50% slower on the second part, but you last statement is wrong. He takes D/10 hours to complete the second leg of the race, she takes D/10 hours to complete the entire race if we can't change his speed on the second half of the race, he would have had to complete the first half of the race instantly to have tied her.

/edited to add: the "fast" way of getting through this problem is to go backwards, suppose he goes 10mph from X to Y, and she goes 20mph there and back, when he gets to Y, she's already finished, boom... done... over with.

A google search replied more answers to Virtue than Happiness... so its virtue....

I'll post the scores in a sec....

Your IQ score is 138
(weegegirls IQ is 238)

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

And then the black and white puzzle is attached to that post . . . and I still think it's number 4. :P

I didn't see that one the first time through... but I think it's 2.

the dot the starts in the lower left moves up once per frame, and the one that starts in the upper right moves down and to the left once per frame, the other two dots don't move...

why do you think it's 4?
