HA!! ltdiver I love this one too : Dressed in a black jump suit, an altimeter strapped to his left wrist, the former pilot recited an old slogan from his days in the cockpit. vamp 0 #42 June 14, 2004 Amusing note...there was an interview this morning on Good Morning America btwn Gibson and the jumper who went with George. (they had the freefall video btw). Gibson actually asked whether or not they provided extra padding on the former president's butt for his landing...
seekfun 0 #43 June 14, 2004 flyhi, My understanding is that the differentiating factor is aircraft. Historically, the President's fixed-wing conveyance has always been handled by the Air Force, whilst his rotary-wing conveyance has been the responsibility of the Marine Corps. So, I guess the question would be: Does GWB jump from a 182 or a helo? - topher"...there is a there out there..." - Tom Robbins
happythoughts 0 #44 June 14, 2004 Our local station in z-hills had a news crew out at the dz yesterday. Johnny Gates and Jim (Phantom) jumped with the woman from the station. She did a tandem and they docked on her while Tony Hathaway videoed it. So Johnny was on tv again last night. This was all in reference to the Bush jump. They were doing a story about skydivers over 60. Of course, the load was all Muffs and we were doing our normal thing, so out of a 20-minute Otter ride, they got 1 minute of useable video (the boarding and exit parts). ACMESkydiver 0 #45 June 14, 2004 QuoteQuoteany aircraft that carries the President of the United States undertakes the call sign 'Airforce One' I think it depends if it is another military service or not. And a civilian aircraft would immediately fall under the control of the Airforce should the Pres step aboard, is what I have understood...so question then; would a hot air balloon also take the call sign 'Airforce One'?? Things that make ya go, "Hmmmm...." OH! OH!! Hey, if that Golden Knight that did his tandem had a radio on, would he then be Airforce One? Ah hell, as it relates to this discussion in particular, Army One then?? My days in the Army never saw the Pres aboard any Army aircraft (that we were told about), so 'Army One' sounds really funny... But come to think of it, 'Marine One' doesn't sound off; I must have heard that somewhere, so I assume you're correct.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
