ACMESkydiver 0 #1 June 7, 2004 Sure there are a lot of claims for this herb or that vitamin or whatever the heck...has anyone tried one that worked? Anyone know anyone that tried one that worked? Anyone have a hairdresser that has a sister that knows someone that tried one that worked?? Doin' my best to keep up this high-energy sunshine spirit that I'm supposed to be known for, but sometimes it's hard to be happy inside. Aside from the ole' "Go skydiving", which I can't do right now, any serious ideas?? kelpdiver 2 #2 June 7, 2004 St John's Wort is the one that comes to mind, but I believe all of those supplements work for some, useless for others. Perhaps an emphasis on the useless side. Exercise is the cheapest, most reliable "natural prozac" out there. Elevate your heart rate for 30 minutes (say 60-70% of your max heart rate - 130?) frequently and you should feel better. Sex counts if long enough and with the heart rate high enough.
flyangel2 2 #3 June 7, 2004 My dear sweet red headed step sister. Sorry that you are feeling depressed. I haven't heard anything about this natural Prozac. I wish I had a suggestion to pull you out of your depression. Maybe some good hot monkey sex, or turtle sex, and some shots of tequila would do it May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. ACMESkydiver 0 #4 June 7, 2004 I turned down great tickets to the Marnier's game tonight with my bro and sis...what is the matter with me?! Eegad... A-ha! sex should do it. Hubby should be home in 25 minutes, and if I explained that I'm depressed and need a romp, maybe that'll fix things right up! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. If I can infer from your post that you are normally an up, happy type of person but that you are currently feeling a bit blue, I wouldnt rush right out and try to find some "cure" Some sadness in life is normal and will pass in due course. Its only when it becomes the dominant factor in your day to day life that you should seek help. Dont become used to the idea of self medicating whenever you are slightly down or have an "off" day. This practice can lead to a lot of problems. This is NOT an attempt to claim that depression is not real or shouldnt be treated, so any of you that are preparing to flame me, put down your flame throwers I merely want to emphasise that some sadness or depression is perfectly normal and temporary and not cause for undue concern. Just ride that out. it will pass. For those cases where it doesn't pass and becomes a regular thing, you folks should talk to your doctor about possible treatment options rather than trying to medicate yourselves with recreational drugs or folk remedies of questionable value.__ My mighty steed

Just ride that out. it will pass. As sort of the local loud mouth about depression, I couldn't agree with you more. Jaye, the blues are a normal part of life. Ups, downs, and sideways'es are part of this ride we call life. It's when it's continued for a long period, for no apparent reason, that it's time to get some medical help and counseling. Be very cautious about taking "natural" stress relievers and sleep aids. They can combine with RX's and not only render the RX's impotent/unworkable, they can also, in extremely rare cases, cause massive additional problems up to and including death (or so says some research. I feel bad for those mice....). For non-chemical depression, exercise, eating properly, time for self, and a few other things are the best way to work through it, and come back to your joyfully exhuberant self. HOWEVER! If this has been a long term thing (and that's a private thing - no need to disclose it here...), or it becomes a long term thing (again...private if you want), then please please please seek some medical care. There is nothing shameful about getting help...and nothing shameful about getting better with that help. The shame would be if you suffered longer than you needed to because of society's issues. PM me if you need to...I'm usually around, and I'm always willing to help. There are times when I know I should be depressed, but just not. But it doesnt work all the time. I dont know about reactions w/ prescription meds so do some checkin. Also, its roumoured that the doseages arent consistent, b/c they are unregulated by the food and drug admin. But I have heard that its has been very popular in Europe for some time as an anti-depressant, but Im too lazy to go find the info for ya. Good luck.
