Both CYPRES 1 and CYPRES 2 are safe within their 12-year lifespan; that's why the lifespan is set at 12 years and not something shorter. This sounds like a good deal and a good way to tide you over while you're in school! :)

What is the currency unit for the price numbers you mention?

Do you really get a battery and a service for 125 of them?

If this were a US AAD, the maintenance at SSK is 180, and they get 85 for the battery. And then you pay for shipping both ways.

assuming US based :

shipping to SSK
$160 (not $180) for 4/8 year
$85 for battery
sales tax (if in Ohio)
shipping to you

Oops! You are right.

Even though I checked the document you link before I wrote the post, I still did it wrong. My bad.

The OP said he was in Ireland (I think, but seeing as how I don't seem to be able to remember anything for even a minute or two now, who knows?). That's why I asked what the unit of currency for his numbers was.

Check out if the cypres has received the 4 y inspection. A cypres with 3 years left on it, is worth nothing if it still needs the 4 and 8 y (both) inspections. On the other hand, a cypres with only 1 year left but with the 4 and 8 y inspections done is still good to buy.

Only one inspection/service will need to be done, even if the first never happened.

If this is the case, they have changed their policy a few years ago (luckily).

It was only ever one service - they just charged you for two! :S

But yes, they have changed the policy, now they will only charge you for one (I've sent in a few 8+ year old ones that hadn't had a 4 year service).

Before settling on the deal, run the s/n past this list from SSK:
http://www.cypres-usa.com/missing.htm It is a list of stolen/missing/non-airworthy units.
