JerryBaumchen 1,362 #2 April 26, 2010 Hi devarona, QuoteIs it possible to modify a container size, lets say a Vector micron V306 that holds a maximum of 120sqft, to hold a 150sqft main and reserve? I had RWS/UPT put a larger main container on a tandem rig for me. So the answer is: Yes But there is a cost and that might make it a completely ridiculous thing to do. Ask UPT & see what they say. NovaTTT 2 #4 April 27, 2010 Jerry - you've still got it! "Even in a world where perfection is unattainable, there's still a difference between excellence and mediocrity." Gary73
JerryBaumchen 1,362 #5 April 27, 2010 Hi Nova, Quote Jerry - you've still got it! Nope, I paid $35 for that rig, spent ~$150 getting it fixed & sold it for $4,000. Actually made some money for a change. JerryBaumchen
riggerrob 643 #6 April 28, 2010 Considering the labour involved, it is usually less expensive to buy a second-hand container the correct size. Oh! And it is much easier to cut down a container than to enlarge it. Old story, when I worked at Rigging Innovations, we had a set of drawings and Product Modification Procedure to cut down a Talon 1 container from Para-Foil ? to Sabre ? size. I only cut down one Talon 1 while I worked there, but by the time I cut down the container, replaced a frayed back strap and did all the up-dates, it proved more expensive than buying a decent used Talon 1 the correct size. JerryBaumchen 1,362 #7 April 28, 2010 Hi Rob, Quote Considering the labour involved, it is usually less expensive to buy a second-hand container the correct size. When I had the larger main container put on that tandem rig, they first said that they had a 'fix' that would let them merely enlarge the existing main container. So I went with that method. It did not work, looked fugly and the 'about to become' new owner didn't like it. So I called them, they admitted that the 'fix' was sort of MickeyMouse and they agreed to build an entirely new main container. They did, the rig looked great and worked great & everyone was happy.
