Casch 0 #1 May 30, 2004 Ok so I'm working on this computer, and it's set to automatically login to the Admin account on startup, I can't remember where that damn setting is. I need to turn that off. Anyone?
Kris 0 #2 May 30, 2004 Start > Run > REGEDT32 DISCLAIMER > Mucking about in your system registry can have dire consequences....The Shepherd's Prayer is called for here. Specifically, US Astronaut Alan Shepherd, who stated, "Lord....Please don't let me fuck this up." Once in the registry editor, go to HKEY_Local_Machine > Software > Microsoft > Windows NT > Current Version > Winlogon. Once in that key, you'll see the password listed. Double-click on it to open the value. Change the password to blank, click OK, then close the registry editor. You're all done at that point. Rdutch 0 #3 May 30, 2004 Or you can just go to User Accounts in Control Panel. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
Rdutch 0 #4 May 31, 2004 Lol, I was just about to mention on 2000 regedt32 is a win 98/95 command, but Damn Microsoft allows some win 98 commands still. For W2000 and Xp you usually use Regedit. Works for Command also, where w 2000 You use Cmd. Now I am convinced that Microsoft Makes things difficult, instead of using the same Naming schemes, they use 2 different one's. Markj 0 #5 May 31, 2004 In Control Panel, double-click Users and Passwords. Click to clear the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer check box. This option does not appear on a system that is a member of a domain. Click the Advanced tab. Click to clear the Require users to press Ctrl-Alt-Del before logging on check box. For W2000 and Xp you usually use Regedit. Actually, IIRC, you have to use regedt32 when you want to change permissions on reg keys. Use regedit for anicer interface and better search function. Why does it have to be that confusing? No idea. And instead of deleting the password, there should be a autologin or autoadminlogon key you can change from "1" to "0" If you just want to avoid the autologin, but not disable it, I think you can hold down a key at startup to bypass it. Might be Shift... I'd have to look it up.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
Casch 0 #7 June 1, 2004 Thanks guys, I ended up just reformatting the bastard, it needed to be done anyway. I got hit so hard with the nimda virus and other worms until I was able to get the updates and norton installed. It pissed me off so much, I would get an update half installed and then the virus would attack, causing the computer to restart. So the trick was holding the virus at bay long enough to get the update installed...ugh. Death to all virus creaters.

Don't blame it on the 'virus creators' only, the USERS who download shit without taking any precaution share that problem.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
