dontsplatmatt 0 #1 April 29, 2010 I have a 25% off coupon for a suit from Vertical Suits (that expires tomorrow ), so I'm filling out the order form right now. I'm going to call the owner when I get home with some questions about sizing, but I figure questions about options are best directed at other jumpers. I'm leaning towards the Z-Suit with the following options: cordura reinforcement on the butt and knee, an extra inside pocket, and spandex hidden wrist cuffs. I'm still a new jumper with only 100 jumps so I'm sure I still have some less than spectacular landings ahead of me. Would cordura really help increase the durability and life of the suit to warrant a $40 increase? Also, what exactly are the benefits of hidden spandex wrist cuffs? The collar styles they offer are Half moon spandex, low rise, high, and rigid. I'm thinking about getting the half moon spandex or low rise just because a lower cut seems like it would be more comfortable, but is there anything else I should consider? And if anyone has suggestions for other options (extra fabric, mesh lining, velcro cuffs, storm flap, etc) that are worth the $ or that make you really love your suit, please let me know. For colors, I'd like something neutral (right now I'm thinking black with gray), but I'm open to ideas, so feel free to post if you have any. Thanks!! :) -M@
DeNReN 0 #2 April 30, 2010 Cordura knees and butt are worth the $$ ...one bad landing can make them worthwhile. I only have a inside pocket on my FF suit and wish I would have ordered a outside pocket of some sort. elastics, pullup etc...
Cueb 0 #3 April 30, 2010 definately cordura on knees and bum. I don't think you'r going to need extra inside pocket. I would suggest a cargo pocket of some sort(outside pocket) instead, you can fit much more stuff there and it's more easily accessible. I hardly can think of use for one inside pocket, I just keep my power tool there. :D I have a pocket on thigh for mobile phone. I suggest spandex, i have some polycotton collar with velcro on my other suit and I hate it, gives me rash after a busy day. Yes. Even once your landings are dialed in you still need to worry about things on airplane floors which were built for cargo and not passengers. Nutz 0 #5 April 30, 2010 You know, cordura is a good idea but the patches on my knees always ride up when I have my rig on and I rip the fabric below them. Oh well, the contrasting patches look cool. That is NEVER a good idea you should always plf. "Don't! Get! Eliminated!"
ChrisL 2 #6 April 30, 2010 Quote. I hardly can think of use for one inside pocket I can. I buy my jump tickets at the beginning of the day and keep em in there. I cant think of a use for an outside pocket. What are ya gonna do? Bring your wallet and keys with you?__ My mighty steed
dragon2 2 #7 April 30, 2010 Inside pocket: small phone, elastic bands, packing cords, any other stuff I only need after landing. Like a wedding ring for a tandem passenger Outside pocket: if you jump camera you'll want to have one for cleaning cloths, lens caps, extra screw, maybe extra tape/memorycard or battery, some people take reserve biteswitches and the like with them too just in case. Also I put my DZ paycard in there. ciel bleu, Saskia

That is NEVER a good idea you should always plf. one should always practice their PLF's - remember the 5 points of contact - feet, knees, chest, wrists, face disclaimer ..... ... Cueb 0 #9 April 30, 2010 Quote I cant think of a use for an outside pocket. What are ya gonna do? Bring your wallet and keys with you? Acctually, i often take my keys with me. That's because during winter time we drive(1km) to the airport and then drive back. But i keep them in the inside pocket acctually.. =) Quote I buy my jump tickets at the beginning of the day and keep em in there. No jump tickets in use at our dz. But that is a valid point. Lens cap, mobile phone, earplugs, i keep them all in the outside pocket for ease of access with a rig on.
