You can also go to mail options and set your security level for HIGH...then whatever creeps in you can block their .com and sooner or later they will go away. The 'high' security level will throw stuff into your junk mailbox but the blocker is fairly decent.
Yahoo gets less crap but they have an automatic Bulk Mail feature that is usually full o' junk. Happy mailing. ~~April

Better and tighter than that is to set it to "Exclusive". That way you only receive email from those you have specifically okayed, i.e., your Contacts or those in your Safe List.

It also triggers the "high" spam filter and cuts way down on the junk so you can check the Junk Mail folder to see if someone has sent you email you actually want; it's then a simple matter of a click or two to add them to either your contacts or Safe List.

With just a little use of Hotmail's tools, it is no big deal to keep it very managable. I've used it as my public email system for almost 10 years and have very few complaints.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

They threaten it but I dunno how long it really takes. I have a hotmail account i set up specifically to give out to potential spammers and I've gone months without checking it. Still works, just always sits there at 100% full. Hotmail blows. Switch to yahoo.

I agree 100%. Easy to manage, and Yahoo has really, really good virus protection too.

Yahoo also offers the "report as spam" mail button, however you can only put 100 in there, but it blocks them completely from sending again. Yahoo does get a lot of junk, mine gets at the min of 150 a day in my bulk folder, and that is a good day, useually it is somewhere in the 300's +.

I also use the "exclusive" feature on my Hotmail account that I've had for about 8 years. Like Jack said, I only get messages from people on my address list sent to my Inbox. It's really nice! I stll glance through the subject lines in the Junk Mailbox to make sure someone didn't change their e-mail address. You only have to use 1 click to empty that whole thing when you're ready. I get more junk mail to my dropzone account than I do to my hotmail account.
