Hahaha, it is to laugh.

If you're an unemployed, slightly-used IT puke like me, you might just get a laugh by having a look at the job requirements for this Federal Gig in Eastern WA....

PUBLIC NOTICE#: BOR-DEPN-CB-04-158

TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)
GS-1712-7/9, $33,071-$40,454 PER ANNUM:o:D:o:D:o:D - wait til you read what they want for the money!!!:D

The incumbent is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive information technology training instruction program for students ages 16-24, which offers training in both basic computer operation skills and well as CISCO Networking Network Associate certification. Basic functions include planning the training sessions, conducting the sessions, evaluating student progress and advising and counseling individual enrollees.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All candidates must meet Office of Personnel Management requirements for the position, which are essentially:

Successful completion of the CISCO Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) and the CISCO Certified Academic Instructor (CCAI) certificate. You must provide copies of certification with your application materials.

Now this is just too damn funny. Unless OPM rules have changed radically since I quit the Feds, IT'S UNLAWFUL TO MAKE THE POSSESSION OF A PRIVATE, COMMERICAL TRAINING CERTIFICATION A MANDATORY REQUIREMENT FOR A PUBLIC POSITION. The agency CANNOT mandate that someone MUST have a CCNA, MCSE, CNE, EIEIO, or anything else that isn't a government-issued rating (e.g., A&P, FCC RTO, etc.).

HOW TO APPLY:Please submit the following application materials to the address shown below:

 An OF-612, Optional Application for Federal Employment, or Resume*, or other form of application.

Copy of CISCO Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) and CISCO Certified Academic Instructor (CCAI) certificate. Failure to provide copies of CISCO certification will result in disqualification.

Well, they're in the shite now, because I'm going to blow the whistle on their sorry ass to the GSA, if for no other reason than that they have no idea what a motherfucker the Cisco CCNA test is.>:(... 640-607 (CCNA Rev three) is the toughest IT exam I've ever taken, and now it's at REV FOUR, so I don't think it's gotten any easier...>:(>:(

Maybe if we had a deal on twinkies, we can have a concesson outside oth e federal employment program. (Pssst..yeah..YOU..eat this and you'll have MAYBE a chance of getting called in)~~April

Not true, I once applied for a job WAY BELOW my pay rate, they called me, but offered me LESS money than advertised, because 'conveniently' the position I applied for was already taken.

It's very tough out there, you guys know I just got back to the workforce, but this past friday, they started 'insinuating' certain changes, so...maybe in 3 months or so I'll be back to watching Springer everyday. [:/]

Huh??!?

You live in the same part of the universe that I do man.
We even have a dropzone in common. How is it that your weather is so much worse than mine?

The weather at Cross Keys has been great. A little hot but otherwise quite jumpable. I've been jumping every week. Since December!

Just go jump man :S
