jceman 1 #1 April 29, 2004 I just got done talking to Bernice from WFFC and here is the official word on the the tent: We will not be having a tent on Drop Zone Row. We've grown too big; we'd outgrown it last year in fact. Fear not, that doesn't mean we won't have a tent! We will be across the road from Drop Zone Row, across the little road from the Alabama Gang, in a 60' x 30' tent, the same size Mirage had last year. Those of you who were at the first convention in Rantoul will be familiar with the location as it is where we were that year except we will be in a tent twice as large as we had then. Primo location. Please consider this post as my start of solicitation for funds. Rev Jim has the links in his thread but I will add them here as well. Those of you who use Paypal can click here; if you wish to send your contribution directly to me you may click here to PM me for details. This tent costs $795 and we will need funds to purchase chairs/couches/etc to make our little home away from home a home. I will be begging until we get enough contributions to cover the tent (just like last year) then I will shut up and leave you in peace. Come play with us in Rantoul -- No, you do NOT need to contribute to the tent to use it, it is being provided for all dotcommers to have a place to meet and hang. I will not be making a list of who did/didn't contribute as it would serve no purpose, but I will certainly appreciate your help and so will your fellow netizens. If you have any other questions, please PM me. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them? AirMail 0 #4 April 29, 2004 It sounds like between Carolina Street and Rantoul Avenue where Wingnut's tent was last year. Good spot. P--- It's never too late to have a happy childhood. Postal Rodriguez, Muff 3342

PhreeZone 20 #8 April 29, 2004 Partying all night for 10 days wears you out. Granted the last Saturday night has Couch freaks and the couch burnings and is the best night to party there, the Sunday jumping is really slow. The start of the week is best if you want to jump hard and with everyone, the last part better to party (there is no bad time at all ). See you for 9-10 days this year Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

jceman 1 #13 April 30, 2004 OK, it's my daily (or so) update: We are at 2% of our goal -- remember we need $795 for the tent plus money for couches, etc. I have a contribution from someone who is not even able to attend, so thank him and do your part for all dotcommers who will be there. RevJim 0 #18 May 1, 2004 QuoteJack.. look in the next week or two. Bill, I'm talked into it Jack, I'll see what I can do this year. It's gonna be tight. The amount has been updated on the list thread. This tent is gonna RAWK! Phree, It's looking like I might be there (stress the might) 10 days early or so. Not working/prepping for freshman year of college at age 33, ect, I'll have some extra time. Count me in for helping out with the setup. I've also got quite a bit of CAT5 left over from wiring my house. I'll bring it along. It's your life, live it! jceman 1 #24 May 3, 2004 QuoteAdd another 5% to that total jack. Actually more like 4% Kris. Remember the extras. Ok folk, here's your update: as of this morning we have about 10% or our goal (plus what Erk and Che will be mailing). The sooner we get close to the goal, the sooner I'll shut up! To answer some questions that have been asked in the past -- No, you do not have to contribute to the tent to use it during the convention; I keep no list public of who contributes or how much -- those who make an announcement on this thread do so just to be nice. I do not look to make any money on this deal, I am only seeking contributions from the dz.community to help the community. The Paypal link will show my business name, but the contributons go into a dedicated account for the tent and extras. Yes, I will accept contributions during the convention, though I prefer to have it settled long before so I can just have fun and be irresponsible during the festivities. (On the ground, that is, and only when we're done jumping for the day.) The tent this year will be large enough to have a good-sized packing area and a gathering area; I have plans to ask for at least two tables from the convention folks and would like to get a few other extra goodies if I get enough contributions. I'll leave it go at that for now. If you have any questions, please PM me or ask here if you think the dz.community would/should be interested.
