lawrocket 3 #1 May 17, 2004 My 2002 Mercury Sable ("Da Merc" as it is called) was tagged in my office parking lot almost two weeks ago. Last Thursday, the vehicle went in for repairs and the rental company provided me with a replacement vehicle. I asked Enterprise is they have a pickup available, since I am in the process of moving to a house. They gave me a Dodge Crew Cab. Dayum, that thing ROCKS! I moved the whole storage unit and half of a bedroom out of my current pad to the house in what amounted to offtime. THat sucker can move lots of stuff, though it is tought to park and burns through lots of gas. I think I'm gonna get me one, and that Dodge is right up my alley. Comfortable, and doesn't have to be too tough like a Ford. I think I'm talking like an Aggie now. Whoop. I mean, whoops! My wife is hotter than your wife. turtlespeed 226 #2 May 17, 2004 I didn't know thaey made anything but Trucks. You mean there is an alternative? In TEXAS? hmmm - who'd 'a' thunk it?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

kai2k1 0 #4 May 17, 2004 I bought my first p/u truck in 2001. I bought a Dodge Dakota extended cab. I absolutely love this truck!! Its been so nice when i want to move furniture, or when i buy a big item from the stores. The next one we buy is going to be a new Full Size Ram quad cab. They're reasonably priced and theyre very easy to maintain. There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan
lawrocket 3 #5 May 17, 2004 QuoteIn TEXAS? I'm in Fresno, CA, not Texas. My lady hates Da Merc. She's been telling me I need to get a pickup. She likes my pickup, but tells me that Dodges are for "Okies." Okies. Goes back to the depression days and "Raisin in the Sun." Pickups are every third vehicle out here. I need something to fit in. She says I need somethign safe for the baby, but Da Merc has a 5-star safety rating, so she doesn't hit me with that argument. She wants me to get a Ford or a Toyota. I may just get that Dodge Ram yet. My wife is hotter than your wife.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #6 May 17, 2004 We have a 4-door crew cab C-3500 long-bed Silverado dually with a mildly hot-rodded 454 (K&N ram air, Hypertech program, dual flowmaster two-chambers). There is no substitute for this kind of truck when you haul a 30-foot camper around. A turbo-diesel would have been nice for the mileage, but this truck goes so fast from zero to 100 that it will make your head spin. The leather interior, power everything, DVD player and thumping stereo (JL audio) make it a joy to drive. The custom billet wheels be lookin good too. Amazon 7 #7 May 17, 2004 QuoteThey gave me a Dodge Crew Cab. Dayum, that thing ROCKS I REALLLLY like my Dodge 4x4 3/4 ton Crew Cab with the Cummins Diesel engine.. lots of power and FAR better fuel efficiency than the gas models. I traded in my 1 ton with dual rear wheels.. the extra foot on each side for the extended wheel wells was REALLLLY a pain in the butt to park.
lawrocket 3 #8 May 17, 2004 For my delivery job back when I was a young college drop-out dunce, I used ot have an F-350 dually with a 7.2 liter turbo diesel. I loved that vehicle, but, yes, tough to park. Sounds like the Skymonkey has one SWEET vehicle to haul a camper! My wife is hotter than your wife. livendive 8 #9 May 17, 2004 QuoteShe wants me to get a Ford or a Toyota. I may just get that Dodge Ram yet. I've had my Toyota Tundra for 3 yeaers now and love it. It's quieter inside than most cars, and I've been able to haul as much as a ton and a half in the bed (short distances...not safe for freeway speeds!) The new club cab looks sweet (picture attached) except for the plastic over the front bumper. I like being able to push stuff with the bumper and not have to worry about scratching paint etc. Also, the new ones are 3 inches wider, the back window rolls down, and they have a sunroof option. Rumor has it they'll be coming out with 3/4 and 1 ton platforms next year, with perhaps a diesel engine. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Deuce 1 #10 May 17, 2004 I've got a Dakota Quad Cab 4X4 with the 287 V-8. It's muy quick, gets about 20 on the freeway, and has a big enough box for the stuff I haul around, like my motorcycle from time to time. It has leather seats and power puff girl floormats. nanook 1 #11 May 17, 2004 Hey, get an F-150. It's as reliable as most imports now. except the 4X4's of course. I just bought my 4X4 f150 super crew King Ranch recently (my second f-150) and I still get a charge when I drive it. But for more than half the price, you can still get a 4X2 with a 4.6 litre engine supercrew. Stay away from that "hemi" if you are getting a Dodge. sure it's 350 hp but how useful is that power when it exists at 5000+ rpms. you are buying a label of an obsolete technology. that engine should belong in a car not a vehicle that uses to lower 3000 rpm powerband. <> Oops, I goofed. forgot completely about the torque #'s. 375 at 4500 rpms. This is the reason it beat the Titan engine. Okay, buy the Hemi but understand that the "hemi" isn't what makes this engine strong._____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
Amazon 7 #12 May 18, 2004 Uh the Hemi does not have the torque my Cummins has at 555 ft lbs Horsepower on the HO engine is 305 The 2004 is up from that High Output 325 hp / 600 lb.-ft. of torque Hmmm I think I need a new chip in the little computer... AggieDave 6 #13 May 18, 2004 Quotethat Dodge is right up my alley Dodge? Why the fuck would you want to pay that much for a bad copy of a Ford? For that matter, why would you want anything to do with a Ford either? Go get a real truck, go buy a Chevy!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Phillbo 11 #14 May 18, 2004 97' F-250 Power Stroke Diesel here ... 4 doors, 4x4 and tows the boat like It ain't even there 17 mpg in town empty, 21 running down to Mexico and 12 towing the boat. It's not the best looking truck in the world but with 120K on it , it runs like a top
Dbriggs 0 #15 May 18, 2004 Diesels are starting to come into the hot rod scene. friend of mine who I work with has an '04 F-350 crew cab 4x4, 6.0 Liter Diesel. This thing comes with 300 horse stock. He put a chip, exhaust, shit kit, trans cooler, and injectors(just to name a few of the mods) in the truck and is putting out over 500 horses at the rear wheels. Now this truck is lifted and sits on 37in tires, but when he stands on it, it'll roast the rear tires and then pin your ass to the seat. That is fast. Ncrowe 0 #16 May 18, 2004 I don't care for the way a dodge looks and I found my old 4x4 quite uncomfortable but as far as the engine goes there isn't a better diesel made than the cummins. Its hands down the best diesel every produced. Ford now uses a powdered metal rod which is a total P.O.S. "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! nanook 1 #18 May 18, 2004 what do you got? A 3500? If I wasn't living in San Diego, I would have bought something with a Diesel engine. Probably wouldn't be too much more than what I have bought. I think I would only buy a Dodge for it's diesel. A good thing those fuel-oil burners are._____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
Amazon 7 #19 May 18, 2004 I had a 1996 4x4 duelly 3500.. it was a pain in da butt when you took it off road on the soft sand at the Oregon Coast. Heavy front end with the diesel and narrow tires... with twin narrow tires on the back end. I traded it in on a 2003 4x4 with wider tires and I have yet to have a single problem with it in 41000 miles. The Cummins is one hell of an engine.. its fun to watch the looks on peoples faces as I tow the 25' Owens Sea Skiff Cabin Cruiser.. up Stevens Pass... going 60 MPH passing people towing small trailers in their CHEVY TRUCKS..that cant pull the hill. ( that was for Jumper and AD BWAHAHAHAHAHA)
