UPT pull-up cords

The UPT pull up cords are made of softer material and do not have rough edges like old style cords. What is the material these are made of? Are they spectra? Can they be used to close the Sigma Tandem system without causing excessive wear like others do?

Check out Frank's "Look Ma" pull-up cords. It's been a while since I've packed, but they are soft as silk and smooth as butter.....

I had one my rigger gave me, and then it somehow *disappeared* after I let somebody use it I have been looking around for these pullup cords...does anybody know where to find and buy these? I miss mine so much!

And for the record: the appropriate ranking of cool modes of transportation is jet pack, hover board, transporter, Batmobile, and THEN giant ant.

Whats the easiest way to get some of these LookMa pull up cords? Their site is almost entirely german, and I can't figure out where I can buy them.

And for the record: the appropriate ranking of cool modes of transportation is jet pack, hover board, transporter, Batmobile, and THEN giant ant.

Apparently. Note that they'll only send 2 for free. And I'm they probably have their company name printed on them, so this is their way of advertising in the skydiving community.

Frank, who owns the company is a super nice guy and spends time at Z-Hills every year. Email him and I'm sure he'll be able to get a few to you. He manufactures some really high quality gear and if you hit the correct link, an English version of the web site will pop up.

"Pullupcords!" just pieces of scrap cord used to close your rig!! Shoe laces will work!! I like good old gutted Mil-C-5040 T/III #550 cord aka T/IIA. The coolie flat binding tape that everyone uses works but the main reason it's flat tape is ya' can print yer logo or advertising on it and it's cheap advertising!!

And I was under impression that flat pieces have a larger surface area to distribute the pressure of pulling and are thus more comfortable for your hands. silly me.

Try the soft (neck?) cord from a flashdrive or for a cell phone or some kind of that...
they a soft (dont hurt your palms) can be cutted to whatever length you want, not needed to have skew ends (and allied them before pull through the grommets) and easy to find:)

The whole point is that the new style pullups are better than type III, which are better than gutted 550.

Skydiving companies traditionally have type III binding tape around, which has long been the standard.

If one walks into a sewing related store, it is hard to find any tape that is not really wimpy and weak, that will break too easily.

A few companies (eg LookMa, UPT, Airtec) have found other sources for strong but soft on the hands pullup cords.

It isn't exactly the most exciting innovation in our sport, but I'd say type III tape pullup cords are no longer the state of the art.

At least no country has yet made the new designs mandatory.

don't forget the Vigil Pull Up cord. It's the best pullup cord I've ever used.

It is FAR better than the Cypres2 pull up cord.

!! I just thought the trip was kinda' funny, at least to me!! After all, it's just a darned cord and to me the funny part is how "Yuppified" it has gotten along with everything else in this sport!! Finding material for pullup cords that doesn't "hurt your hands" is cool!! Over the years, it wasn't the callouses as much as the "dry cracks" at your knuckles that go to the bone!! When you've worked in the business and passed as much nylon webbing, cord and cloth over your hands as I have ya' gotta laugh!! 'Usedta' go thru jugs of Cornhuskers lotion to combat the dryness. Come to find out that besides the abrassivenes of nylon, the mfgrs. would treat the cloth, webbing,tapes with "Formaldehyde" you know,"Embalming fluid!!!!!" to prevent mildew and mold growth on the fabric!!! That's what really wacked our hands!!
Rigging tip #69, get a short wood dowell and file/carve a notch around the middle, wrap the ends of the pullup around the notch and use it as a "Handle," saves yer fingers!!

Im not new to the sport and was not really looking for pull up cord options. i personally use a pack boy, as Ive been a packer for ten years now and have not only seen the difference on my soft girl hands, but also seen what pull up cords do to closing loops. My question was specifically stated due to the requirement/recommendation by UPT to use spectra to close the Sigma Tandem system. Being that they provide a softer, new style of pull up cord, does the one the company distributes comply?

UPT recommends Spectra on Spectra (Packboy) to get the most life out of your Sigma closing loops. Our new pullup cords create less friction that the Type 3 pull up cords, however Spectra provides the least amount of friction. You will get the most pack jobs out of your closing loops using Spectra on Spectra, however, it you prefer to use another method, you can do that.
