Does your Factory Diver get fogged up?

Well? My Z1 broke, and I got a Factory Diver as a replacement. Did a few jumps with it this weekend, and jump No. 1 scared the living crap out of me. The visor was fine in freefall, but the second I was under canopy, it got super foggy, and just got worse and worse. By the time I landed, I could barely see because there were was just a ton of condensation in the helmet. Pretty scary stuff. The jumps after, it got a little better. I put on the helmet right at the red light, and made sure to try to breathe out the hole through my mouth under canopy. There was still some condensation, but not as much...However, I would prefer to not have to worry about this on landing.

So, my question is other than holding my breath, is there anything else I can do to help with the fogginess/condensation problem? Doing this for one or two jumps is fine, but I can't imagine having to do this every weekend...is there anything I can coat the visor in?

I got a Factory Diver over the off season and wore it on my first jump. It was my recurrency jump and first time jumping at that dropzone. As soon as i opened up the the entire lens fogged over. That was quite an interesting canopy flight trying to spot the new landing area from a fogged up helmet. I didn't dare to take it off and drop my brand new helmet.

What I noticed helps a lot is to breathe in through your nose, and direct all of your exhale through the mouth hole. I haven't had a problem with it since that first jump. I asked around at the DZ and from what I hear, full faces will tend to do that on colder days.

In my case I have made 3 things to my factory diver helmet:

1- Cut some foam to increase the mouth hole and add some gaffer tape to cover the edges of the modified hole

2- Install the lens with a small gap near the nose and the forehead

3- Add stripes of gaffer tape to secure the bottom of the lens near the cheeks.

So, maybe it’s not beautiful but it works well for me to avoid fog.

You could always open your visor under canopy.

That's the reason a lot of people wear Factory Divers. It's the reason I wear one. (Well, I wear a helmet when I do 4-way.) You never have to worry about a visor popping up in freefall. Make sure the visor is installed with a little gap by the nose and also up by the forehead, and breath through your mouth. It won't fog if you do that. The other option is simply to take the visor out and wear goggles.

I bought the Factory Diver because the visor doesn't open up. I use it for 4 way VFS. I can't afford to have the the visor open up when I don't want it to.

I have both the flip up and the no flip up helmets.... I wear the NON-flip up and the flip up sits in the closet.

I don't want the visor popping up in freefall.

I have had no issues with any lens fogging. Make sure you have a small gap at the top and at the nose piece and it should be fine.
