if you look where at the tail of where the plane was parked, there is what looks like a wall, but is actually 2 huge sliding doors. It opens! There is a hangar off to the right as well(with 2 more of those bessies). The landing area is decent as far as I am concerned. There is a lot of space to land. I haven't been to other dz's, just boogies, so I can't compare it to much. I haven't had any problems. I hope I don't speak too soon... Anyway, hope you can come jump some time.

I'm in AFP & jumped at only one DZ. But I am considering changing DZs to finish my training at a more "compatable" place. My problem has been that I need more dependable and available AFF JMs, so I CAN JUMP whenever I have the time&$ to do so. Now that it's getting cold I need a DZ that'll be open longer too. I'm also starting to check out other DZs in anticipation of being licensed and able to jump where-ever I want to... probably some time next year.

They dropped it from 500'. I didn't see it, but I'm told that the watermelon drop from the weekend before (which I DID see) was much better.

A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

The watermelon drop was pretty impressive. The watermelon was about 60 lbs. (I'm not exagerating, many agreed it was the biggest watermelon that they had ever seen). It was dropped from about 500 feet. The video from the door of the plane actually shows the watermelon all the way until impact. That's how big this thing was. Following impact there was very very little evidence left, except for the giant divot in the grass. Every part of that watermelon was basically vaporized, rind and all. Upon impact a cloud of mist spread out about thirty feet horizontally, and about six or eight feet high. However, there was very little sound.

The pumpkins tended to make more noise, but didn't offer as impressive visuals. However, we did find chunks of pumpkin up to 80 feet from the impact point.

Are there videos of the pumpkin? I'd like to see videos of both, actually... Are they available out there to watch?

Pumpkins are great but if you're going to do them, you have to do them right. Fill them with water first, then pitch them out.

Calling the resulting impact impressive is an understatement.

If you would actually make an appointment for your AFP jumps (like you have been told many times to do) then you would find that weather permitting, there would be the AFF staff on hand and avialable!

I know Its a bit of a drive but come check out Wild Wind Skydivers. I am from Grand Rapids and I drive to Saginaw to jump there. It's a great DZ very friendly and accepting. They have a lot of experience and a lot of great fun.
