Vallerina 2 #1 May 5, 2004 Does it get any better than that? I don't think so. Where else can I prevent my drunk 100 pound sister-in-law from causing major brawls??? Where else do the people in a 5 ft radius become your best friends that you'll never see again? Where else can the hometeam being beaten horribly but no one seems to leave? I haven't sat in the bleachers in years. Beer is good. I have the best brother in the entire world. The last night the Illinois general assembly could approve the funding for the new park, it was getting close to the 'legal' ending time. Someone had the insight to unplug the clock until the debate was over. When all the paperwork needed the timestamp, they plugged the clock back in showing the correct date that the vote was approved. In actuality, the vote happened many hours past the timestamp.----- ~~~Michael

I'll, unfortunately, never get to have that kind of experience, but I do remember being young and singing, "Root root root for the Cubbies!" with Harry, half out of the booth, waving his arms with the crowd. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
EricaH 0 #16 May 5, 2004 I didn't know Chicago had another pro team either , just some nice fancy new stadium w/ no one in it. Now the Kane county Cougers - they're fun to watch!! Val - there's no experience like a Wrigley bleacher seat experience. I think I've seen your sis-in-law there a few times . Good job holding her back!! There is no can't. Wonder if Ryan was involved at all I do remember how pissed that vote made the people down in Florida after they went and built a baseball stadium thinking the Sox were moving down there._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... ChasingBlueSky 0 #19 May 5, 2004 QuoteI didn't know Chicago had another pro team either , just some nice fancy new stadium w/ no one in it. Actually, there are people there - but they are baseball fans. Most at Wrigley are just part of the mindless yuppie herd (that usually spout off something about Harry) that feel the need to be part of the crowd and do whats cool. Anytime I've been to Wrigley I've asked those around me a dozen questions about baseball and never once has anyone known. I won't sit in the bleachers there because I was sick of having drunk idiots that were there only to get a tan and to have overpriced bad beer dumped on me.....I couldn't watch the game anymore so I left. Quote Now the Kane county Cougers - they're fun to watch!! As are the other minor leage suburban teams. Now that is baseball! BTW - nice to see that Chip has carried on the tradition of terrible baseball announcing. If it wasn't for his last name I don't think he would have a job._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... EricaH 0 #21 May 5, 2004 Well, I don't like the yuppies, I lived in Lincoln Park & Boys Town - had to get outta there FAST. However, since I HATE HATE HATE baseball - I go for the wrigley experience (and a tan ). The Cougars have that nice, afternoon @ the park feel. I don't like Comiski (or US Cellular field or whatever it is no), there are too many baseball fans there - well, really not that many people, just all fans. I grew up in FL - loved going to the field team games of the Pirates, Sox, Tigers, Reds... many many great times!! Teh best thing bout the Sox's park was the vertigo feeling I got @ the very tiptop of the seats. Since they took those away, there's no reason to go anymore. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)
Vallerina 2 #22 May 5, 2004 QuoteAnytime I've been to Wrigley I've asked those around me a dozen questions about baseball and never once has anyone known. I know very little about baseball, but I still have fun at games (I always have.) I know nothing about football, but Bears games are a blast. I know nothing about Nascar, but I'm going to a race in August. Most people know little about theatre, but they enjoy going to a play. My dad is a true Cubs fan. He watches games on tv with it on mute, and he has the radio next to him so that he can hear actual sportscasters. He's been doing that for years. He goes to Cubs games once or twice a year, and he enjoys them. He knows that fair-weather fans exist, and he doesn't really care. My brother took me to the game last night, and he doesn't care that I know very little about baseball even though he's also a true Cubs fan. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

It isn't baseball, it's a tourist attraction. At least I know they are all at one place and I can avoid them by default by being a Sox fan. I hate NASCAR - it bores me to tears. I've heard that going to a race is a fun time but I will never go...I just don't see the point since you are there to watch a race. I can hang with my friends at someplace I would enjoy. I'm all for expanding my horizons and trying new things (I went to the Derby once to see if I would enjoy it)...but I just don't understand going to a sporting event if you hate that sport._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
