Vallerina 2 #1 May 3, 2004 Could it be the most evil highway in America? I believe so! I like taking the train to avoid junk like this.... I hopped onto the Dan Ryan after work, and I noticed traffic was a little heavy. I passed Comiskey Park, and it looked like the traffic was due to a game. No biggie. I kept going, and traffic wasn't letting up. The radio stations weren't saying much, and I didn't notice any helicopters. My instinct said, "Get on the Skyway," but I'm cheap. I stupidly stayed on this highway of terror. I sat in my car for over an hour, and I still wasn't far from my office. I checked my rearview mirror often. The lady behind me was paying attention, going 5 mph for a few seconds and then stopping just like everyone else. Out of no where....BAM!!!!! I got rear ended. Yes, the lady behind me rear ended me because she was rear ended. The guy who caused the whole thing took off. So, I had to step out of my car, swap insurance info and make sure all was fine and dandy. Everyone is fine, luckily, and my car is okay. I hated being one of those people who gets into an accident at the worst possible time. As if traffic (caused by a train derailment way up ahead) wasn't bad enough, people like me had to go and make it worse! Silver lining: some people are just good people. I didn't touch the guy's car in front of me, but he saw what happened, and he made sure no one was hurt. The moral of the story....get a chauffeur if possible! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Vallerina 2 #3 May 3, 2004 Well, there were worse things I could've said... "I rode on Dan Ryan after work." "I spent hours on Dan Ryan after work." "I moved so slowly on Dan Ryan after work." "Dan Ryan was really backed up. I had to take my time getting on it." Any motivation that I had to get "stuff" accomplished tonight is completely gone!!!! I need to eat cookies now. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
ChasingBlueSky 0 #4 May 3, 2004 Now you know why you should take the Skyway. The Dan Ryan has the heaviest flow of truck traffic of any expressway in the country....that right there is enough reason for me to stay off of it as much as possible. I've never seen a larger group of idiots than I have on 90/94 If traffic was moving so slow, how did the guy take off? Glad to hear all is ok._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... Vallerina 2 #5 May 3, 2004 QuoteIf traffic was moving so slow, how did the guy take off? I don't know! I never saw him! He may have been lucky (for him and no one else) and caught the lane to the right moving at just the perfect time (for him.) QuoteNow you know why you should take the Skyway. No no no....I know why I should take the train! Actually, when I do drive, I leave my house/work so early that traffic usually isn't a problem. I don't mind if I get heavy traffic once in a great while, though. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

freeflybella 0 #8 May 4, 2004 There is one like that in Philly: I took 76 and it was horrible. I get rear ended almost every time. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
JustaBill 0 #9 May 4, 2004 Quote The moral of the story....get a chauffeur if possible! That isn't always a good idea either. I work for the railroad and stay in a hotel south of Chicago and the hotel vans drive us to the train yards. Man I have never met a bigger group of nondrivers than the people that hotel employees. The most dangerous thing I do every day by far is get in one of those vans.------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever

Cudlo 0 #11 May 4, 2004 Very few things in this world are more dangerous to your health than van/bus drivers in Chicago. In their heads they are just playing chicken thinking "I bet he'll swirve first". Yep.. that was a mess.. what was it? a 30 MILE backup because of that train derailment?_________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard
