Houston Skyventure

Recommended Posts

Dave, have you ever been to the tunnel in Orlando? For those of us that have, that picture looks very familiar.
BTW, where is the name "Skyventure" on that tunnel or any where else on that website?

Edit to add: I keep clicking on the picture like it says to do on the website to get more information, and nothing happens.

i believe this is the one thats gonna be down by NASA, right? what i heard from tom olson was that this thing is being funded by a bunch of nasa scientists and that they wanted to start it as a tourist attraction, they didnt really even have skydivers in mind. :D should work out pretty cool though. its only about 20 mins from my apt.

Yup. Atleast that's what I've heard.

Oh, its doesn't say Skyventure on the website, that's odd, it looks like one, people that know are saying its one...if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck...

well because the scientists arent thinking of it as a skydiver attraction, i think what they have planned is more of a "zero-g" simulator so the people can "know" what its like to be an astronaut. :D:S riiiiight. i'm sure it'll end up just being all skydivers that show up there lol.

ok, 4 NASA engineers and Steve Boyd, dzo from Spaceland and other investers. It IS Skyventure but billed as the Zero Gravity Room to appeal to the general public around the NASA (where it will be built, JSC)theme. It will be a 12' tunnel just like Orlando but with all the bell and whistle updates, even better than Perris from what I'm told:)

The website is now accessible.

The arrival of a new 1000 hp VWT will quickly spread throughout the skydiving industry drawing significant numbers to Houston. TunnelCamp (the largest skydiving school in the nation) based in Orlando is approximately 35% of SkyVenture business. We expect to pick up a significant share of this business due to our convenient location and easy access (Bush International Airport and Hobby Airport).

The Zero-G Group has signed a purchase agreement with SkyVenture to purchase a 5-fan 1000 horsepower wind tunnel. This contract gives The Zero-G Group exclusive rights to place a SkyVenture tunnel in the Houston territory (85 mile radius).
