wingnut 0 #26 April 22, 2004 Quote would also quit smoking (if you haven't done that already.) There are some surgeries that orthopedic surgeons refuse to perform on smokers, because smokers just don't heal as well as nonsmokers my doctor gave me the same advice when i had back surgery.. said that smoking did something to the disck in your back making them not as healthy as they could be....... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
chuteless 1 #27 April 22, 2004 I think (actually, I'm sure ) you have a pinched nerve, likely in the neck area. I have them periodically because the disks are all grounbd down to the thickness of a quarter. I have one right now, and it will go away in a few days, and then show up again when I least expect it. I take Percodan (1/2 at a time) and it kills the pain, but sooner or later, the tingling in the arm, right to the forefingers returns, and the neck pain again.. I kinda learn to live with it, hope it goes away, it does, but always returns. It doenst require surgery, its just a nerve that is easily pinched. Hope the pain stops for you....it may even stop for good. Take care anyhow Bill Cole D-
ChrisL 2 #28 April 22, 2004 How much will you enjoy that milestone laid out on your bed unable to move because of the pain? Get yer ass (back) better first. That jump isnt goin anywhere. Amazon 7 #29 April 22, 2004 Lisa, Sit it down and take care of yourself the skies will be there as well as the people when you are better. Long ago I quit the sport... I took a long layoff for varying reasons. I am back at it now, much older and hopefully a little wiser, and some days at the end of the day it hurts. If someone would have told me I would live this long.. maybe I would have taken a bit better care of myself. Life is an interesting journey. Do what you can to heal and rid yourself of the chronic pain. Its far more enjoyable when you dont hurt constantly.
AndyMan 7 #30 April 22, 2004 Google yourself different kinds of physio-therapy. Then hit the gym. Focus on strengthening muscles in your back, neck, shoulders, chest, and abs. Having really strong muscles will often take the preasure off of the joints that are causing the pain. Being in really good shape will allow you to skydive pain free. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
