Shoes to jump in

Recommended Posts

It might be a good idea to avoid anything that has those open lace hooks like some Timberland boots do... it's just asking to get caught on something. Something with good ankle support and is comfortable is important to keep in mind too.

it depends on the day and previous weatehr. If it has been raining i will wear boots... with no snags, or if they do have snags cover them up. If its good and dry i wear whatever is cmfortable.

I don't jump barefoot....or in any open shoes like Tevas...I had a bad experience years ago when I landed in an area on the airport other than the main landing area...and ended up pulling thorns out of my feet for a week..fuck that, I jump with regular shoes now..

Less foot tingles with the Vans than the Chuck Taylors.
Vans are stiff soled and have a bit more cushion. Chucks wont come off which is good.sort of
But I'd like a shoe i can take off with my feet if i need to. Sounds crazy, but just another saftey thing in case of a water landing or get stuck hanging from the plane or whatever. Vans are my choice. are you gellin ? Yes the gel inserts are always good too.

Vans that lace up - many a shoe has been lost because of lo laces.

Rebock has a shope out there for about 15-20 bucks that suit the purposes very well.

I would like to add that at a boogie Mike Ortiz had suggested that a good pair of light boots that will give more support in the ankle area just incase of a bad landing would be ideal.
I have found light boots, but wow they are expensive. although when I think about it...the time in the emergency room may be expensive and time away from skydiving definitely sux.
my power is beyond your understanding.

ExactlyB| I have gel inserts in my vans, and after dragging a toe through the mud and peas to stop for a hit and chug, i will never jump in teva's again.:D:D

Globes rock. just like Vans or any other skatie shoe. So comfy!

DC Shoes are the bomb too! You want something that is slick on the bottom to surf across the grass but you also want some padding and protection around the foot. Vans, Globe, and DC Shoes are by far my favorite. I bought this really killer pair of newly released Chuck Low tops the other day. Jumped in them and was reminded quickly why padding is good. [:/]

Well hell I did! My little feet hurt when they hit the ground. Chucks are for looking good as far as im concerned..DC is for jumping.

You see, the way Kris surfs across the ground there is no impact to his feet.;) Therefore chucks are great. I am like you, i need the padding for the impact.:o:D

Well I didn't want to say for when I surf because half the time it was not on purpose and it was all about luck that I pulled off a nice surf/slide across the grass. So when I come in and impact the Chucks were..let's just say it wasn't pleasant. BUT on the other hand since I will be a swooping, surfing mad woman by summers end, hahahahaha, :D I might be able to wear my cute little Chucks again. For now..big ole thick DC is the way to go, for me.

I second that!

i just bought a pair of chuck's high tops. i was having a problem with my other shoes coming loose, the chuck's can't fall off if you lace them all the way up. i was thinking a pair of gels would help with the cushioning.

I have a nice pair of Chuck Taylors that my son painted with scenes of Venice and Florence. They were his dress up shoes for prom his junior year of high school.

Yes, everytime I see this topic I say the same thing. So I will not say it since you already did.:D

American Flag All-Stars are the way to go. But since I jump them you are not allowed:D. You can get any other style you wish. But not American Flag:P.

But definitely go with Chucks.
