Skydiving article/Z-hills.....plus aircraft ballistic save

Recommended Posts

I met the man (or one of them) who "invented" the parachute thingymabob for planes at Elsinore on Saturday. He was very happy to hear about the save in the South, as well as one in Canada. He was being congratulated for it, and seemed rather stunned by it all.

I think it's great!

Cool. Great article. My only comment to the author was that CRW jumpers will open at the exit altitudes of freefall jumpers e.g., 13,500 ft. Other than that, a fantastic article.

For competition the exit altitude is 7,500 to 8,000 feet.

You have about 2 min of working time. In rotations you have 30 seconds to build then 1:30 seconds.

In Zhills most CRW jumps are from 8 grand. Thats were he got that info from.

But yes they can open higher..I think they are not allowed above 10 grand due to not having a transponder in Zhills, or the jump plane is supposed to circle them. (I could be wrong about that...Diverdriver?)
