karma 3 #4 April 8, 2004 Your IP-address is a reserved on. 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x don't get routed over the internet IIRC. Your current IP-Address falls into the so called private space addresses. These addresses can't be used on the Internet. They are used for private or company LAN's. Try an IP address from your providers range. That will probably work. . karma 3 #8 April 8, 2004 Quote what I got is that it froze my Internet explorer... system at the office is MSwindows98 That'll teach you not to click every link you see. I'm sure if you would have waited the browser would have unfrozen. It was just trying to resolve the IP address. Because it can't it seems like the browser was frozen (well maybe it did, you just can't tell with M$). Grtz. karma

karma 3 #10 April 8, 2004 Sorry can't help you with that, don't know the software you're using. I do have a question for you, do you connect your pc directly to the internet or do you have a server (or router) in between your pc and the internet? PhillyKev 0 #12 April 8, 2004 So your FTP server is on a private network. Do you have any public IP addresses? If you do, you can get a firewall and map the public addess to the private address. (MIP - mapped IP). In other words, my email server is on a private network, so has a private IP address. But when people send mail it gets sent to the public address which is our firewall. The firewall then has a rule to forward the traffic sent to that public address to the mail server on the private side.

Faber 0 #14 April 8, 2004 Ive got the server up running, and a guy got a vid from me.. BUT BUT only my msn and ICQ can be online, which means i cant get mails or surf in the net.. The FTP program wasnt the problem but i had to go to TCP/IP-Advarnced and ad my public IP(still remaining the other there),the FTP then worked, but not my mail or net.I took it of there and i got online by mail and net right away.. Why is that? Stay safe Stefan Faber
