Speaking of being more intellectual:

A Meteor is just a flash of light.
A Meteoroid is a rock in space.
A Meteorite is a rock on the ground (any planet)

Saying that it will be 8 million years before a large meteoroid hits Earth is pretty ignorant. Every rock that has come close to earth has been detected AFTER it passes us by; trying to detect a rock on a collision course to Earth is virtually impossible…..now, unlike what we learn in the movies, which is where most people get their education. I know I became a much better skydiver after watching Drop Zone.

Back to rocks, Earth gets hit by small rocks all the time, it gets hit by medium rocks more than you’d think, and we get hit by large rocks approx once in a lifetime. The last rock that probably would have destroyed life on this planet came to Earth in the early 20th century over Siberia (I forget the exact location, tip of my tongue). For some damn reason it exploded a few miles above the ground. So instead of wiping out life, it just destroyed a big part of the forest, 50 miles wide I believe. The biggie the came before that is believed to have taken out the dinos.

Me too, that's how I chase tandems now, dump them out of a trapdoor in the plane without the TM. B|

Am I mistaken in my reading or did he call it a "meteoride"? Is that like Gatorade? ;)

Who is this poster and wtf does this have to do with skydiving????? :S:S Somebody either delete this thread or at least move it to the Bonfire.

"Gandalf actually says "run, you fools" if I'm not mistaken."

He says "Fly".:)

I've read Lord of the Flies, but not Lord of the rings. I have not seen any of the films either.

Am I missing something?

Have you been on another planet or something?? I'm not a huge fan of LOTR, but I've seen the first two movies, and you can't possibly exist in the USA without hearing all about it. B|

I'd apologize for the thread being hijacked by LOTR, but it was a troll anyway. Carry on. ;)

He's not in the USA. It's been a fairly significant series in other western countries too (he's in Germany), but probably not nearly as dominant.

And my father probably has no idea of who Gandalf is either.
