Gawain 0 #9 March 30, 2004 Well, the "main" site is still linked. Both are pretty clean. I use Google all the time, so I'll reserve judgement. Google needed to do this since Yahoo! dropped them as their primary search engine. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! julesey 0 #10 March 30, 2004 I'm working on developing a web site. How can I make my site to come up in Google searches? Forgive me if this is a dumbass question. "I know it's tuna. But it says chicken. By the sea."
AggieDave 6 #11 March 30, 2004 It has to do with their webcrawler hitting your site and how many sites link to you. Or you can pay a LOT of money to have you site pop up on the top of the list or the right of the screen.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." indyz 1 #13 March 30, 2004 Go here. That will get your site in the index. To get better ranking in the results, get as many people to link to you as you can. They should use descriptive links, not like that "here" link I just did.

newsstand 0 #15 March 30, 2004 QuoteI'm working on developing a web site. How can I make my site to come up in Google searches? Forgive me if this is a dumbass question. Get it out there first. Then get other people to point to you. That is how the Google hacks work. Something like 32 sites linking the same word or phrase to the same web site will bring it to the top. It also seems to me that .com sites generally fare better than others. "Truth is tough. dixieskydiver 0 #16 April 6, 2004 Froogle has been around for awhile in Beta. They've had lots of stuff in the works for awhile, not just since Yahoo! dropped them. They keep the homepage very clean for a reason, so that it doesn't take long to load and is easy to use, I promise the code those MIT boys and girls are churning out aren't high-schoolish in any way. gary350 0 #17 April 6, 2004 Very cool - They are soon going to be competing with Yahoo and Hotmail in the email arena, with a some significant additions. . . Sign me up! https://gmail.google.com/ A Google approach to email. Gmail is an experiment in a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that you should never have to delete mail and you should always be able to find the message you want. The key features are: Search, don't sort. Use Google search to find the exact message you want, no matter when it was sent or received. Don't throw anything away. 1000 megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message. Keep it all in context. Each message is grouped with all its replies and displayed as a conversation. No pop-up ads. No banners. You see only relevant text ads and links to related web pages of interest. indyz 1 #20 April 6, 2004 QuoteGuess what? They're reserving the right to read your e-mail! They can keep their privacy invasion e-mail, don't need it. Based on what I've read, I believe that the problem sentence in the privacy policy will most likely change before rollout. Gmail is currently in closed beta testing, so it is too early to draw any kind of conclusion about the service. Things can and will change.
