cocheese 0 #52 March 30, 2004 If not stitched in 12 hrs. it's too late. I just went yesterday for a slice i made on Friday. They said "too late ! " They taped it a bit, tetnous shot, and a bill I can't wait to see.Amputate. That will fix it.
Snowwhite 0 #53 March 30, 2004 QuoteConsider that payback Turtle. I've heard the superglue thing before. It works. Super glue was actually developed for heart surgeons. The rest of us got hold of it really late. They have been gluing heart gashes up with it for decades...skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
cyric77 0 #54 March 30, 2004 If the Lac has been open to air longer than 8 hours they will not suture it. I don't think you need sutures for your injury anyway. Clean with soap and water, apply antibiotic ointment for a couple of days, and watch for redness, swelling, increased pain, and purulent discharge. If you have signs of an infection go to the ED, because you don't want this to develop into something more serious.
cyric77 0 #55 March 30, 2004 do not close the wound with superglue if it has been open to air greater then 6-8 hours. Closing the wound after this time frame will increase the risk of infection.
d_squared431 0 #56 March 30, 2004 Yes, you should go and have it looked. Cuts can get infected and if it is you will need to be put on some antibiotics. MikeJD 0 #57 March 30, 2004 This is interesting. I had heard that superglue was developed for repairing wounds, and clearly it works - but how do the two sides of a cut ultimately heal together with a layer of glue between them?
