A Fond Farewell

Very impressive disection of my post but the other posts that you listed.... about the DC-9 jet and about the Havok helmet really don't have a lot to do with this post and should stay seperate.

You are welcome to disagree with what I have to say but reposting threads that you don't like is irrelevant. Stick to the topic

they all point to the fact you open your mouth and don't know what you are talking about.

Very impressive attempt to make me look bad! I'm impressed!

You make yourself look much worse than my poor ability to add or detract from it....Hell, I don't have to do anything.

I still can't believe you are being so small as to slam a guy for making a life choice.

You again show you have no idea what you are talking about...And that you have no class.

Of course because you have a different opinion.

Am I slamming this guy? I'm only trying the help him realize that there are too many positves in this sport to simply STOP, sell his gear.

LMFAO! Sure, I guess I should wait until I have 3000 jumps! nice attitude.B|

Good Luck to you... I have seen various people leave the sport for a number of reasons and I too have felt the way you have. As long as your decision makes peace for you then its a good one. Don't let the classless people on this board judge you. Best Wishes.

I just want to say good luck to you and I hope that life treats you kindly and that you find all the happiness possible.

Don't forget to look up every now and then to send some good vibes to your fellow friends who remain in the sky...

Peace and love to you!!

Good luck for the future and congratulations on making a decision that feels right for you. Ignore those who slam you – at least you’ve tried the sport, made some jumps and decided it’s not for you. To my mind, that is an informed, adult decision. Anytime you did want to come back… the sky would still be up there smiling at you. B|

Have fun with whatever you decide to pursue.

Ya know you need to shut your lip and listen and learn more.

I have this dream, more like a fantasy where someone comes up to me in a bar and says those exact words. Unfortunatly it's not likely to happen...Except on the internet, where everyone is a bad ass at the computer desk.

Maybe less threats and more productivity, Ron. Ya think? Oh wait, this is the man that is "never wrong."

Okay, this is not what this was supposed to turn into. You think I'm weak? You're right. Props to you and anyone else that can continue to jump a few minutes after the ambulance has left. Props to you if skydiving makes you feel accomplished. Props to you that things don't affect you.

But, as Ron pointed out, you really don't know what you are talking about. Which is why, I suspect, Ron showed other examples where you did not know what you were talking about. You have no idea why I am leaving, other than the reasons I posted. As it is, I posted plenty of reasons.

But, you want one or two more? I run my own consulting business that has finally started to take off. I am trying to buy a home. If I crash, will you go on my consulting jobs for me, and help me pay my mortgage? If I end up badly hurt, will you wipe my ass? Ever read Christopher Reeve's book? I suggest you do. It will bring some reality to you. We may "only" see 30 or so fatalities a year, but the injuries are in far greater numbers than you think. Again, if you're cool with that, great. I'm not.

And again, it isn't SO much about me getting hurt or ending up dead. I don't want to see it happen to friends. I don't want to see it happen to people I don't even know. I have 262 jumps that say I ain't scared of shit.

Apparently you missed the part of my post where I said how much I had learned... and how it is about the journey, not the destination... and apparently you missed that really fucking cool picture I posted. I'm thinking that pic should get me laid well into my fifties.

And Scott, don't complain about Ron attempting to make you look bad. You called me weak. What is the difference? Were you attempting to make me look good??

Few people ever do ANYTHING their whole lives. Life is a journey. You want to stay in the same place or do the same things, that is up to you.. and there is nothing wrong with it. I know in the end, your post has the same sentiment as the others. Most people just don't want to see a skydiver leave the sport. I appreciate that. Most of my pals at the dz don't believe I am done. But, I am.

This decision is already hard enough. I've accepted it. You need to, also.

Tuna, I leave this sport in great spirits. My posting of this last thread has nothing to do with attention or pity or sorrow. It has to do with a respectful goodbye to a sport and to people that I learned so much from, rather than just slink off into the darkness.

If you got negative vibes from it, then blue skies brother, blue skies.

**Next section is not directed at anyone in specific**

Reality check everyone....There are many factors involved in a person's choice to start/quit/restart/retire/etc. skydiving. And, it is each individual's choice. Whether or not you feel that it is something you would do is irrelevant. What is relevant is that a person got involved in a sport that most people do not, made friends, had fun in the sport, saw friends die/get injured, weighed the pros and cons of the sport, and decided that right now (and maybe permanently) that this sport is not right for them. Again...it is their life. They must look in the mirror every day at themselves and be happy with their choices - you don't.

So...whether you agree/disagree with the decision that he made for his life, why not wish him well?
Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your time with us here. I never got to jump with you, but I read your posts and I respect your decision.

Just remember... once a skydiver, always a skydiver. And like Chuteless said... make sure you glance up every now and then and think about us.

And feel free to pop into dz.com and say hello every now and then. We always miss good people. ;)

Good luck!

Of course I don't want to see you quit!
When you quit, it is reminding me of all the insecurities I have about the sport.

The post was meant to shake things up and make you really think about why you are quitting.

This latest post pretty much explains your reasons, what with the mortgage and buisness. I respect those reasons.

I DON'T THINK YOU ARE WEAK!!

You are placing your work ahead of your sport and I feel bad that you a making such a black and white decision about it. "selling your gear" and "no longer posting on DZ.com"

You are cutting off your comunity.
Sorry if I sounded like a dick. I hope you reconsider.
Don't let the Cristopher Reeve book scare you!;)

why not wish him well?

It's the "Rocky" syndrome. How many times did Rocky say this was his last fight? How many times did he say he was retiring?

Take a look at how many threads we have of dz.commers (no need to name names, you know who you are) who give us the boo-hoo post of, "I'm never posting again, this is it, this time I mean it, I'm never coming here to post again."

Then the next day they're back. So pardon me if I don't break out the hanky and stream tears as I run beside your train, waving to you as the orchestra music begins playing on cue.

Maybe I'm just old school. Never was one for attention and sympathy, never need vibes and if I decided I was going to retire from the sport or quit posting on this site...I would just do it. Personally I wouldn't make a production out of it. Obviously, there's some people who feel they must. But hey, variety is what makes the world go round.

Regardless, may peace be with you, brother.

Um, ya, this is the first, only and last time I will announce my retirement. And, I don't see what the use is of a retired skydiver posting here. What, in five years from now, I'm supposed to have some brilliant skydiving advice to give?

Dude, who is asking for sympathy, crying or music. Again, it was a respectful goodbye. If you don't want to pay attention to it, guess what? We all have a choice.

I am wrong...And I live in Tampa...Come find me if you want to talk.

BTW the shut your lip was not a threat. You can't listen if you are talking.

But then again you still think the 82nd is Special Ops right?

Adam... you have more respect from me then people that keep jumping just because their life has no other purpose. Cut out and remember ther good times. Life has way more to offer then just what DZ's have, enjoy them all. I'm sure I'll join you one day.

well said.

Adam, good luck with any and all future endeavours. The sky will always be waiting or you.:)

They are Special Operations Capable (SOC).

And yes, we've been over this before. I sent you a PM asking if you wanted to call me so I could educate you. I had an officer from the 82nd on the phone who wanted to do a 3-way call with you. You refused. But no sense in hijacking this thread (although I think it may be too late)

And I had several officers and NCO's from both the 82nd, and SF telling me that they are not.

Plus I was actually IN the unit once.

See that over there..Thats what is left of that horse. I think its dead.;)

Wait it moved!!!!

Nope its dead.
