bertusgeert 1 #2 March 27, 2004 I was there last summer for 4 months, compared to Kentucky... I liked people not having the friggin accent which i am unfortunately picking up. yall I liked the people's overall attitude I liked that people weren't as friggin fat, and actually got off the couch and did something. I liked the mountains and the rivers close by, there are some incredibly beautiful places in colorado and most of all, I loved the SUNSHINE Awesome place, I'll be bak fo sho! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! mailin 0 #3 March 27, 2004 don't believe everything you hear about Kentucky Viking... Having lived in CA, TX and New England; Kentucky has THE most friendly people around. My in-laws are in eastern kentucky, and although they live simply they are pure, good people. I love visiting. As far as Colorado - don't know much other than what I've heard, and it sounds lovely. Why do you want to know - are you moving there? JenArianna Frances

lawrocket 3 #6 March 27, 2004 Viking: Asking what Colorado is like is the same as asking, "How's California?" DOn't like a part of Colorado? Just drive an hour and you are someplace different. Denver? Nice city, perhaps the best beer city on the planet. Lots to do, and a good location. Eastern end of Colorado? Flat as a pancake (think Kansas). Agriculture, and a pastoral existence. Then you've got the mountain communities where skiing and tourism are staples. Or, you can go the the Western Slope where it is more desertified. Southwestern is a mix between desert and mountains (Durango is nice). The people there are cool so long as you don't tell them you are from California. My wife is hotter than your wife. JohnnyD 0 #7 March 27, 2004 HELLLLLOOOOOOOO!! Man, you'd think that after pulling cactus needles out of my foot we'd be bonded for life. Since I lived in So Cal and am currently in CO, I will not only have a lot of opinions but I think they will even be relevant. Give me a call.
wingnut 0 #8 March 27, 2004 okay so i don't live in colorado anymore but i did (actually just brought in my old lisc plats from my car....) i lived in colorado springs... the atitueds in the town i found were very nice.... they suited me well, what they were i couldn't well ya exactly but it fit..... if i could go back i would, only thing i found was that is is expensive to live there.. car insurance rates are about double from what i would pay if i ived back home in ohio. housing is about double from what it is here in utah (house here for 550 a month, 2 bedroom apt for 800 in colorado springs) okay so not double but still up there.. a house would of cost yo about 1k.... might be diffrent in difrent places though....... if you are thinking about it i say go for it...... just remeber it will get just as hot durrng the summer as in so cal but also a lot colder in th winter!!!!!! ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
skydyvr 0 #9 March 27, 2004 What's great: - Two excellent DZs within an hour's drive of metro Denver. Two more further south near Colorado Springs. Tunnel on the way. - The best of skiing and boarding one hour away. Of course, the mountains provide beauty and great activities year round. - Lots of great pro sports teams, and Denver has a very strong sports fan base to support them. - Culturally interesting; generally friendly people and atmosphere. - Diverse and solid job market. What's not so great: - Cost of living, esp housing, is high near Denver. - Jumping is limited, but not eliminated, in the winter. - Traffic can be a pain depending on your route and time of day. - No beaches. . . =(_8^(1)
RkyMtnHigh 0 #10 March 28, 2004 I have lived here in Colorado for 19 years and it is a great place to live because: The scenery is beautiful; four seasons; city life - downtown (LoDo is fun); can drive one hour and be in the mountains; lots of outdoor sports year round; people are friendly; as far as attire goes, it's relaxed & laid back; has the most sunny days throughout the year; when it snows, it's usually melted by noon.... lots more... Only things I'm not crazy about is the road construction and traffic. _________________________________________
DickMcMahon 0 #11 March 28, 2004 I was born and raised there, and in fact my son is named "Denver", and my daughter is "Molly" (after the Unsinkable Molly Brown). So you can see I'm pretty unbiased about it. I'm not there at the moment, and the last I read no one can move to Colorado unless someone moves out. You'd better check on that ... and be sure your passport & visa are valid. They don't want too many people soaking up the sunshine (there are only 300 days a year of it). In fact, when a skydiver says "Blue Skies", people in Denver often say, "Oh No, not again!"

Sad thing..or maybe not so sad is that I've been here 19 years and it finally time to say "goodbye" & move to Florida and be closer to my family. I've been "away" long enough. They are so happy to have me come "home"; I can always come back to Colorado as a visitor. I can honestly say that I never thought I'd leave this beautiful place. It will definitely be bitter-sweet. _________________________________________
markd_nscr986 0 #15 March 28, 2004 live in arvada, work in golden.best of everything except kind of tough to scuba dive locally and housing can be pricey in denver metro area.Lots of blue sky and high winds.............Marc SCR 6046 SCS 3004
WFFC 1 #16 March 28, 2004 That was the primary reason for my move as well. Ask Phil or Mary and they can fill you in on the background. There is one thing that can't be replaced and that's family, as disfunctional as that might be. Home will always be in CO. I'm just visiting here.----- ~~~Michael
