Luv2Fall 0 #1 March 25, 2004 during the next few days. Anyone here have experience with the "Shadow"?
Merrick 0 #2 March 25, 2004 Definitely a nice looking bike, but I seriously wasn't impressed with mine. In 99' I bought a new 99' 750 Shadow ACE Deluxe, and I swear it was the slowest most uncomfortable bike I've ever ridden. The seat was nice, but handlebars made me feel like I was hugging a bear. Don't mean to be negative, but I WAS ready to get rid of it within a week of riding it home from the dealer. Keep in mind, I prefer sport bikes too, so my opinion may be a bit biased. lol blues! DTOXX 0 #4 March 25, 2004 I have a 2002 Shadow Spirit 750. I like it. Given the choice I would have gone with a larger bike but as I am the only one on it most of the time its fine. ------- D.T. Holder SIMstudy
PeteW 0 #5 March 25, 2004 Just bought a 2002 VSTAR 1100 Custom brand new. Last year I rode a 2001 Suzuki Maurader 800cc. It was a good bike but I like the feel of a slightly bigger heavier bike. But I am 230lbs 5'9". Pete
AggieDave 6 #6 March 25, 2004 I'm still trying to figure out how this falls into the "inexpensive toy" catagory. For me, an "inexpensive toy" is a plastic spider ring and a website about Harleys.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Luv2Fall 0 #7 March 25, 2004 Harley's are expensive.
Conundrum 1 #8 March 25, 2004 Bah, get a real bike.
AggieDave 6 #9 March 25, 2004 Now if you took that and put about 8" of bottom end stretch and about 6" of top end stretch and some new handle bars and you'd be set!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I have the same bike 'cept mine is yellow. I love it, people are talking about slugish/ I was doing 80 all the way over willamate pass with my thengirlfriend onthe back.... I'd tell you how fast it goes but the spedo stops at a 100mph. anyway if you can afford the few extra cc's and get the 750 i don't think you will out grow it so quick... _________________________________________ The Angel of Duh has spoke
Luv2Fall 0 #12 March 25, 2004 I think the 750 will be all I need for some time..........just something to cruise on up and down the interstates........nothing fast. Thanks all for the responses.

Conundrum 1 #14 March 25, 2004 I prefer sport bikes over cruisers if that's what you mean. Overall, they are much better performing machines and in my opinon, look better. It's all personal preferrence though.
Cajun 0 #15 March 25, 2004 I've got a 99 shadow spirit (1100cc). Nice bike, comfortable, easy to ride. Never had any problem with it except the battery went dead after 4 years. Only thing is it maxes out at 105mph. Would like to sell it and get me an RC-51 now.
Ron 10 #16 March 25, 2004 On the same type of thread...anyone know anything about a 1996 Porshe 911? I think I NEED one."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

2fat2fly 0 #18 March 25, 2004 When I sold my Harley, my dad asked me about buying one. (he put more miles on my bike than I did). I told him that for what he wanted, a Shadow was the way to go, and I still feel that way. Comfortable, reliable, shaft drive and liquid cooled makes for a nice bike.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
mccordia 74 #19 March 26, 2004 I have a Yamaha Virago (750), realy like it a lot. But I'm thinking about buying a Yamaha V-Max next year. My dad has one, and I realy love that machine...it looks cool, drives fast, and even better.....its not made out of plastic The V-Boost system on that bike makes it accelerate at an insane level...no matter what speed you are driving...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? Gawain 0 #20 March 26, 2004 Yeah, V-Max has some serious muscle! Definitely worth considering for anyone in the market for a powerful cruiser. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Shawndiver 0 #25 March 26, 2004 Check out the Suzuki Intruder Volusia VL800. Had mine for two years with 30,000 miles on it and have not had a mechanical problem with it yet! It pretty much gets rave reviews in the magazines for a mid size ride! Shawn_________________
