skymama 37 #1 March 25, 2004 I'm on 2 computers every day that run Win XP. If I get a picture in an e-mail, on one computer it only gives me the choice to save it as a bmp. On the other computer, I can save the same picture as a jpg with no problem. How do I fix my computer so I can save pics as jpgs on it?She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

souleh 0 #4 March 25, 2004 I'm not totally sure on this as I'm at uni and these machines aren't XP, but from memory try: Start -> Run, type 'control' Go to 'add/remove programs' (might be in classic view?), then Windows Components (or something similar, as I say, I can't remember the exact name as I'm not near an XP machine!) - then select Windows Imaging (or a sub-window under that) - there should be options to install imaging components, which should let you save files as alternate formats to plain .bmp's. Hope this helps and is right.. if not, I'll do a proper check when I get home if nobody else has come to your rescue! Nick. shunkka 0 #5 March 25, 2004 i dont think the outlook or the browser is wrong if u cant fix the problem go 2 photoshop and save how u want... changing the extension in a program like outlook can modiffy the quality of the picture... ------------------------- "jump, have fun, pull"
CapWeathersby 0 #6 March 25, 2004 You should just be able to change the file extension when you open the pic.________________________________ "Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value."
vleisie 0 #7 March 25, 2004 I have the same problem. I'm running NT. Another frustrating thing is that JPGs embedded in html emails get converted to BMPs when I send them.
hooked 0 #8 March 25, 2004 This may not have anything to do with pics in emails but whenever I can't save a .jpg as a .jpg (it is a .jpg but shows as a .bmp), I know it's time to empty my temp files. CrazyIvan 0 #10 March 25, 2004 If none of that works, what you can also do is save the image as BMP, then open it using PAINT and save it as JPG.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.

Just remember in the future, when you can't save a pic as .jpg, and you know it is a .jpg, that's when it's time to empty your temp files!
