tbrown 26 #32 March 24, 2004 That's not what's meant by "killing kittens"....you don't need a gun for that, unless it's the one between your legs. So put away the piece (of course if you really had a piece, you wouldn't be killing kittens anyway, now wouldja ?). I can't believe I'm writing this drivel. Honest answer? Recent Taurus models have the safety moving forward through only about 30 degrees, while the PB moves through 80 degrees. The safety is clearly visible in the pic. Of course, we don't know how old the pic is, or even the country the pic was taken. If it were late 80's, in Brazil, I'd go with Taurus, otherwise it's an open debate.
 airtwardo 7 #44 March 24, 2004 QuoteWho developed that weapon? PB, or Taurus? Who copied who? *** Baretta designed that model type. Their open slide design dates back more than 50 years. Taurus made mostly cheap revolvers and pocket pistols... Until the 80's. Baretta sold the tooling and manufacturing license to Taurus to help the retooling costs it anticipated if it won the U.S. Military contract. The success of the Taurus 'made' the company... it reinvested much of the profits and is now regarded as a better than average manufacturer. Quick tidbit... Many manufactures went after the U.S. Military contract to replace the 1911. Including Ruger with the P85, Springfield with the M9(CZ75 knock off) Smith & Wesson's M59, Glock didn't meet specs because it's not a 'true' double action. Interestingly, both Baretta and Taurus put fourth examples of basically the same pistol... Throughout the testing, the Taurus was the better gun! More accurate, no frame cracks, significantly fewer jams. The Baretta won out, in part because it agreed to move the manufacturing facility for the weapon to the U.S. & could meet the quantity needs required for the contract. The 'faulty' design (frame cracking) wasn't addressed until after several thousand units had been delivered. It just couldn't come close to the required 10,000 round service life. Seal team six was the first to voice complaint, theirs were breaking after 2-3 thousand rounds... at the time, six's ammo budget (small arms) for the year rivaled that of the entire Marine Corps! They shot lots! For a quick replacement they went with the Smith M66 .357 revolver.. then settled on the H&K .45... a far superior weapon. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
 goose491 0 #45 March 24, 2004 Heheee. Just as a Buck ain't a Dollar, a clip is not a magazine. (Also: A cigarette is not a dart, a pizza is not a pie, gravel is not peas and a football is not made of pig skin.) But a Buck IS a Dollar as far as anyone is concerned... so? Clip?...Magazine? Aren't clips disposable? Like in the rifles used in WWI? 5 round clips and the clip would pop out depleted at the end? You'd just leave it be on the ground and load a new one? Magazines were later developped when we got better designs and could load 'em ourselves? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
