Racism in "The Apprentice?" Shock at who claims it.

Recommended Posts

For any of you who ever watched the show, I wonder if you have any shock and surprise whatsoever about who makes that allegation.

Interestingly, I recall her getting upset and shouting racism with a "pot calling the kettle black" comment. At the end, she calls herself a "black sheep." Is she a bigot?

Ex-'Apprentice' Star Stands by Race Claim
52 minutes ago

By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Fired "Apprentice" Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth — hated by some of her fellow cast members — got plenty of love Thursday at Ebony magazine's awards luncheon.

Manigault-Stallworth, a guest, received hugs, kisses and requests for photos at the fifth annual event, which honors outstanding women in marketing and communications.

Among the honorees were CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien, Fox Sports reporter Pam Oliver, BET Nightly News anchor Jacque Reid and television producer Suzanne de Passe.

Manigault-Stallworth, who was "fired" on March 4, was the most polarizing of the 16-member cast, frequently arguing with some of the other women on the NBC reality show, in which contestants vie for real estate mogul Donald Trump's favor and "the dream job of a lifetime" as his yearlong protege.

After her "firing," the 30-year-old claimed former contestant Ereka Vetrini had called her the "n-word." Vetrini has vigorously denied the allegation, as have executive producers Mark Burnett and Trump.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Manigault-Stallworth, a former political consultant, said her experience showed the problems of racism in corporate America.

"Both of those gentlemen weren't there, so I find it ironic that they would be so emphatic that something did not happen."

Vetrini has noted that contestants are taped constantly, and had such an incident occurred, it would have been caught on tape.

"Believe me, I know what I experienced," Manigault-Stallworth said. "Those women called me every name in the book on-camera. Imagine what they did off-camera. Imagine what they would say in the corridors."

Still, Manigault-Stallworth said she watches the show, which will end with a live two-hour finale on April 15. "I may be the black sheep of that family, but I'm certainly a part of that family."

Manigault-Stallworth is negotiating a book deal and a talk show, and is interested in doing political commentary for the upcoming presidential election.

Am I the only one who finds it 'interesting' that this didn't come up untill she was fired?

Is that the girl who claimed she had a concussion when she got hit in the head?

Yeap, with a very small piece of plaster that fell from about 6 inches above her head.:o

You know, when the show first aired, I thought it was kind of stupid, but my guy was really into it, so I watched a little bit. I still think the show is dumb, but got sucked in mainly just waiting for her to get booted because she was such a horrible person. Week after week, she was just unbelievably smug and nasty. I know I'm not the only person in America who cheered when Trump finally "fired" her. She has to be one of the most disliked women in the country right now! I watched the "recap" show last night and was reminded again about how horrible she was, and I find it hard to believe she got a warm reception ANYWHERE! She set a bad example for professional women of ANY race!

I think the rascism claim is total BS, right up there with her "concussion"! I just don't buy it!

Last night's show had a lot of extra "previously unseen" footage of Omarosa being smug and nasty, and these were her own private moments on camera. And of course there was the doctor telling her she was fine after her "head injury" and her going to the ER anyway! I wonder if that was aired to remind America just how nasty and lazy she really was, since she's telling everyone how badly she was treated!

She's worthless.

Did anyone see the 'recap' episode last night? Previously un-aired footage and additional commentary from the Trumpster. They played a short bit showing the whiner seeing a Dr. for the bump on her head. The Dr. said that she was fine, but not liking that answer, she went to the ER, they also told her that she was fine.

I thought the whole thing was amusing.

Now, on a slightly (only slightly) more serious note: If this woman plans to succeed in life, she needs to learn to (a) thicken her skin, just a hair, and (b) get by on her own successes, live with her own failures, and leave the courts out of this. I can see the case now, "Your Honor, she called me a bad a word...."

Sheesh, grow up, bitch.

I think Omarosa picked the wrong person to f#$% with this time. (meaning Donald Trump) Her own words and actions contradict her claims, and its all captured on tape. How stupid! Plus she's such a hideously obnoxious person, I don't see how any judge or jury would be sympathetic with her if she did have the balls to sue.

I know I can't be the only person who started watching just to see her get fired! Now that she's gone, I have very little interest in the show. (Although there are a few more "candidates" I really dislike!)

I heard that Ereka, who she accused of using the "N word" is planning to sue for libel, and she probably has a pretty strong case. This woman accused her of being a racist on national tv and has nothing to back up her claim. A public accusation like that is potentially damaging to her career. I kind of hope she does sue and wins!

Some people apparently gain as much comfort from believing racism is everywhere as do those who don't believe it exists anywhere.

I have to agree with you on that. Why would she keep that quiet until she's fired? Omorosa certainly is the type to play the race card when she doesn't get her way. I saw the 'pot calling the kettle black' episode and that isn't a racial remark (is she a pot??) but thats the first 'cry' she put on it. I don't remember her crying 'SEXIST' when the women won all the first contests by flaunting their sexuality.

On the show I liked Omorosa because she was smart and confrontational and face it, they aren't on the show to make friends, they want to win.
Personally, I wouldn't be caught DEAD with her because that underlying anger is just as much part of her as that 'black cloud' following over her head.~~April

Why does everyone love this show? I find it just as stupid and boring as any other reality show out there. I watched one show (the one where the plaster fell on her head) and didn't understand the attraction.

Do you realizing we are making celebraties out of anyone the networks put in front of their cameras? Why?

Because they can. B|

It's voyerism, mixed with big dreams, competition and the ability of the viewer to feel superior :)
You get to follow some people around really close. They do sorta fantastical things, living the high lives, meeting famous people. There's an opportunity for a great win, while at the same time there's fierce competition.

And, just like in Rikki Lake, most who are so desperate to get on TV are fuckheads. So you get to feel smug and superior by watching their ridiculous behaviour. "Shit, *I* am better than them, and they're FAMOUS AND ON TV!"

I just wish I came up with the reality show idea.

I very very rarely watch them, because what they represent. They take the worst of human behaviour and glamorizes/sells it. Not my cup of tea, but I know it's the shit for others. More power to 'em, I ain't judging, other than saying that it makes me annoyed and cynical to watch that stuff, so I stay away.

Funny this topic is brought up....

While at lunch, I went to the near by Barnes & Noble to pick up the latest copy of "Selling Power" (I know, don't say anything) and Amy came up behind me to grab the latest copy of People with her on the cover. We made some small talk, it was pretty cool. Nice girl. Too bad she wouldn't tell me who the winner is....

ROFL, ain't that the truth!

Still, some shows are designed to do it - politicians and famous people are just natural talents B|

I actually haven't seen this show, and judging by most of the anecdotes here I don't think I want to.

Unfortunately what's popular (profitable) and what one might call "worth a shit" aren't always in line. In the mean time I'll stick to my History Channel :)

Aw, c'mon!

Without useless garbage like her, the "Three Stooges" (Sharpton, Mason and Maddox) would have to get REAL jobs...!
