dixieskydiver 0 #27 March 18, 2004 Gun control issues come up often, lots of gun people here. Last time I was out gay marriage came up. I think the Passion of Christ brought up religion issues once too. Dixie HISPA #56 Facil Rodriguez "Scientific research has shown that 60% of the time, it works every time." tunaplanet 0 #29 March 18, 2004 Negative. And I highly doubt no one else here does. The ones that are constantly whining/bitching/moaning and instigating arguments for the pure satisfaction of causing shit (you know who you are), have absolutely no life and receive some sort of sick pleasure watching their political/religeon/gun threads get heated up and the chaos in whis follows. It's pretty sad. Unfortunatly, there are some people who act macho and say things on the net because it's safe. Things they would never say to another person in real life. I chuckle frequently when everyone starts bragging about how tough they are. I won't name names, but I see all the time people on here bragging how they are black belts, marksmen, special forces, etc... It's hysterical. Bottom line is this...there are some people who act entirely differently on the net compared to real life. Why? Because it's safe. They know in real life that if they said half the things they spouted off on these forums they would get their ass kicked. I'm sure we'll see many responses saying things like, "Not me, I act the same in person as I do on the net." If that's the case, I wonder why I have rarely had anyone talk to me in person they way people on here do on a regular basis. Hmmmmm. Interesting. wmw999 2,514 #31 March 18, 2004 Well, I hear these discussions all the time. Just different persuasions. Politics? "How can I get on the good jumps" and "why don't they ever ask me to jump with them" Religion? RSL, Cypres, FF vs. RW... Designer 0 #34 March 18, 2004 Humm, not usually. Here is why.A couple of guys got into the politics discussion recently and it seemed like at any minute it could get ugly.Mostly the sound of two guys with differing views on why we are at war with Iraq.We are a passionate group(Skydivers)except when it comes to war, politics and religion. We tend to like to think each of our views on the subject is the right 1.Of course it was like a friendly heated discussion. Why bother? JohnRich 4 #35 March 18, 2004 QuoteDo you discuss/argue politics/religion at the dz? Sure, but that usually breaks out only in the evening when jumping is done, and have been warmed up with a few beers. I think it is universally understood, that differences over politics, don't interfere with jumping fun. I keep the two separate. I can disagree with people over political issues, but I still like to jump with them, and enjoy them as people. That's the key. Respecting them as trustworthy skydivers, fun people, fathers and husbands, and so on, helps you to also respect their political views, without letting it drive a wedge between you.
