Frodo 0 #1 March 17, 2004 Should I talk to a local company about hosting my site, or should it be done online, dependless on physical location? How much does it cost per year? How can I add stuff like guestbook or polls to my site? Do i need to pay a web-designer, or can I do it myself?

Nightingale 0 #4 March 17, 2004 I did it online through Earthlink. they took care of the registration and hosting for me and it was very easy. Its a good way to go for a beginner. I could've registered the domain myself and found somewhere cheaper to host, but it wouldn't have been nearly as user friendly.

WFFC 1 #7 March 17, 2004 Quotegodaddy.com I'm in process of moving my domains away from register.com - why pay 35$ when I can pay $7.95 for the same thing? or aplus.net - most of these places offer hosting as well for pretty cheap. Talk to your current ISP and see what they'll charge you to obtain the domain, host, etc. They may just pass on the cheap registrar fee to you and not charge anything else. If you want to get real creative, get DSL (or a cable modem) with a static IP address and set up your own hosting for yourself. DNS services can be provided by zoneedit.com. If you need more info, feel free to pm me.----- ~~~Michael
