Jumpsuit Colors: POLL

Recommended Posts

This is very embarrassing because I look like a total dork with my "superhero" poses in my pictures, but I have attached some very clear pictures of my Bev jumpsuit. I think that it will help you with your decision. You can see the lines/seams clearly defined because it is color blocked. I LOVE my suit, but I want to change the colors for next time. I can visualize it better by just looking at the cut on these pics.

Also, make sure that all the purples and all the grays match (or compliment each other) from one fabric to the next. This is pretty important. Good luck! :)

I like Jumpsuit #4, but I like very subtle design/clothing for myself because I am sooo short. However, make sure to think about your personality/personal style, your body and how busy your rig colors are. It may be too subtle for you because some people look better with more happening on the jumpsuit.

Edited: I meant #4, not 5.

Who is Building the suit?

My suggestion is to get a suit w/ an all white front, Black booties, black spandex forearms and the back all in black w/ the front side of the grips grey and the back side purple cordura.

Or replace black in the above design w/ purple (booties, forearms, and back) and have the grips w/ a purple front and grey back side.

I have a nylon front and yoke, but my booties and grippers are cordura...damn, they slow me down! [:/] You don't have to get cordura booties, though, the norm is to get poly-cotton...I think. There is spandex on the bottom of my sleeves and on the back waist (on the sides). The back bottom of the suit is poly-cotton. Also, my suit IS lined and well-fitted, but it could probably be tighter...or so, I have been told. However, since I can layer up to 4 tops underneath my suit, I am happy with it a little less tight. I usually wear about 2 layers under my jumpsuit.

Kris, whomever takes your measurements will help you to pick out the fabrics that you need. It is also dependent on your fall rate. How fast do you normally fall on your belly?

Edited; I also have super fat grippers (w/ inside leg grips) and extra long booties with a zipper opening. Call me if you have any more questions! :)

ok...

the debate is:

right now, I need cordura knees, simply because my landings SUCK and I don't want to damage the suit.

However, I'd like to be able to take the cordura off later, when I don't need it.

IF the knees are nylon, the stitching to hold the cordura on will make a line in the nylon once the cordura is removed. If the knees are poly-cotton, it shouldn't be a problem, because cotton weaves will typically close up after you pull a seam out.

If it doesn't look like I'd be able to remove the cordura, would I be better off not getting it? Is the poly-cotton going to rip if I land on my knees? How much will the cordura affect my fall rate?

Also, how much will the larger grippers affect my fall rate, as opposed to the standard size ones?

I would talk to someone who does this every day, like Kama in Ground Zero or whomever is in Square One. I would say to ask them all these questions. They will help you decide what fabric to use where. Call me, and I can tell you what I have been told for me. Of course, I only weigh 97 lbs., so my suit and my fall rate is different than yours. Each suit is custom made with different options, so keep that in mind.

You probably don't need larger oversized grips unless you want to slow down. The cordura booties won't slow you down anymore than any other booty. The biggest factors in picking up fall rate w/ a suit is a snug cut and nylon front.

I have a snug suit for competition and I can only wear a t-shirt and boardshorts under it.:)

Seriously, I cannot retain body heat well-enough:(...ever. It is why I need to layer my clothing underneath my suit.

Also, yes, I meant that the large grippers slow me down...not the fact that they are cordura, although every little bit of speed for me helps. I have an amazing arch, but I am VERY petite and flying 4-way with the big boys. It's funny because my FF suit lets me fly faster than my RW suit, and I was told by a fellow tiny 4-way chick with experience that my grippers are catching a lot of extra drag due to my being so small. The grippers are not as big of a deal on other, normal sized people.

Kris falls at a pretty good speed already, I think...

suit #2

I like my cordura knees/booties even though I generally don't fall down. (knock on wood) It's because I'm lazy and when I'm packing I don't take my suit all the way off so I kneel in it quite a bit.

/edited cause I had some extra words in there that didn't make any sense.
