TLob456 0 #1 August 26, 2010 I looking to buy either a weight belt or vest to up my fall rate. I'll be mostly freeflying but also doing some RW. Any opinions or experience with the benefits/drawbacks of belts versus vests?
mrubin 0 #2 August 26, 2010 I use a belt because I feel that it would be easier to remove quickly if I needed to. I do mainly RW so I don't know how a belt/vest would affect freeflying."I fly because it releases my mind from the tyranny of petty things." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Psychonaut 0 #3 August 27, 2010 I prefer the belt as it helps your arch during RW with the weight sitting in what should be your low point, and odds are that if you're wearing the belt, you also need to be arching. Another thing to think about is if you were to be landing in water for example, I can slip my belt off easily with my rig on, a vest you wouldn't be able to.Stay high pull low
freefalling01 0 #4 August 31, 2010 I have both, and I find that the belts can be much more comfortable then the vests. With a vest, the bulk of the pressure from the weight rides on your neck and that gets really uncomfortable after a while ( like on 182 rides ).
