Have you ever known someone...

Recommended Posts

Who transforms the way you look at the world? Who makes you see the beautiful things in an ugly landscape, and makes you want to open up to the wonder of the world instead of shutting out its nastiness?

You can be walking along the same gray sidewalk, covered with litter and urine, looking at the same gray buildings you've been seeing for months or years, and suddenly, they're beautiful. The people around you are beautiful. You want to soak in the ambiance instead of shutting your eyes, all because a fascinating person has let you look through his eyes for a moment. And after that, everything is full of possibility, whether the fascinating person is still there or has left.

I've known maybe three people like this in my life.

Have you ever known someone who's changed your perspective and made you appreciate this world?

It was a friend of the family, Steve, who was the only one I had as a child who shared my interest in things that flew. He was significantly older than me, so he was able to show me some very cool things, like the Air & Space museum in Washington. He took me for my first airplane ride ( unbeknownst to my parents:)
Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off.

My kids, especially when they were little, but even now as teenagers. My wife, constantly, but especially when I first met her, so long ago. We once had the good fortune to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He's old and tiny, and at the time wasn't feeling well, due to treatments for prostate cancer, but that little guy almost gives off his own light.

I'm fortunate enough to have spent a day and a half celbrating life with an entire group of people that do that for me.

Thanks to all you circus freaks...you know who you are.:)-Josh

Got the same thing here...I just talk to her and everything is better. I just can't keep the smile off my face when I talk to her.

Yes!! And I thank the powers that be every day that she came into my life. I can't imagine life w/o her.

I've met around thirty or so people like that in my life. Hoping to meet more.

Accelerate hard to get them looking, then slam on the fronts and rollright beside the car, hanging the back wheel at eye level for a few seconds. Guaranteed reaction- Dave Sonsky
