gary350 0 #1 March 7, 2004 http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=3552328 Venezuelan President brands George Bush an 'asshole' 02.03.2004 CARACAS - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called United States President George W. Bush an "asshole" yesterday for meddling, and vowed never to quit office like his Haitian counterpart as troops battled with opposition protesters demanding a recall referendum against him. Chavez, who often says the US is backing opposition efforts to topple his leftist Government, accused Bush of heeding advice from "imperialist" aides to support a brief 2002 coup against him. "He was an asshole to believe them," Chavez roared at a huge rally of supporters in Caracas. The Venezuelan leader's comments came as fresh violence broke out on the streets of the capital, where National Guard troops clashed with opposition protesters pressing for a vote to end his five-year rule. Military helicopters roared in low runs overhead as soldiers fired tear gas and plastic bullets to repel several hundred opposition demonstrators who threw stones and set up burning barricades in eastern Caracas late into the night. Troops and opposition activists also skirmished in other cities. "We call on the country to continue with peaceful resistance," opposition leader Enrique Mendoza said. "This fight will last as long as necessary." A soldier and a cameraman were shot and injured during the clashes and an opposition protester was wounded in the head by gunmen firing from motorbikes, witnesses and officials said. Electoral authorities, citing the need to preserve peace, said they were postponing until today the preliminary results of their verification of the opposition's petition for a recall vote. - REUTERS

The simple fact that Americans really can control their countries and even the entire continent interferes with their "Machismo."

BlueEyedMonster 0 #5 March 7, 2004 QuotePretty old news. I mean the, um, date of the story. They put the date before the month in most other countries. So its probably not that old. But, the title is not news.. I thought that was common knowledge.

koz2000 1 #7 March 7, 2004 Of course Chavez doesn't like GWB. He ousted his buddy in the Middle East. From a British owned, Venezuelan based newspaper. "Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, is hardline dictator with close personal ties to both Cuba and Iraq, is in the process of converting the nation - a major oil producer - into his personal fiefdom. In August 2000 he went to Baghdad where he was photographed with a smiling Saddam Hussein personally chauffeuring him around. billvon 3,030 #8 March 7, 2004 >Of course Chavez doesn't like GWB. He ousted his buddy in the Middle East. I think Chavez doesn't like GWB because we recognized the legitimacy of the rebel government that ousted him within hours of his leaving Venezuela; when he came back we sorta un-recognized the rebels and re-recognized him. Nothing like supporting a government's enemies to get the government pissed off at you. Sorta how we would react if Germany announced it was supporting the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

BETO74 0 #12 March 7, 2004 Dude, What do you know about Vzla? Do you have any clue about what's going on the or S.A and why? I grow up in Vzla and I can't tell you how much I dislike the president, but you will have to hold your comments to yourself instead of posting in a public place like this one, the same as the president of Vzla for making those remarks. You are entitle to your opinion like everybody else, but if you don't know what you're talking about you should keep it to yourself. Peace.http://web.mac.com/ac057a/iWeb/AC057A/H0M3.html
gary350 0 #13 March 7, 2004 QuoteGreenies shouldn't feed the trolls. FallRate Seems pretty newsworthy to me, and certainly amusing. Something you don't see every day - ANY world leader calling any other world leader an asshole, though it DOES seem to be getting a lot more common (asshole, moron, etc.), and it certainly echoes the feelings of a huge number of people around the world, let alone at home. >Greenies shouldn't feed the trolls. At it again, huh? Wah! It's a troll! Wah! QuoteLooking back at it, I'm particularly interested to observe FallRate's contribution to the discussion about the milestone of 500 American soldiers being killed in Iraq: (Defending Jimbo's "*Yawn*") >Actually, Jimbo might give the post a bit more consideration if he had the faintest reason to believe that Gary fives a fuck about the dead soldiers, instead of being quite giddy about the fact that he can use it to make a half-assed argument against the current administration. (Response to Jimbo posting a link to a gay-curious website) >Hysterical, Jimbo!!! Kudos. (Another defense of Jimbo's "*Yawn*") >The yawn was directed at the fact that your post is a blatant troll. But you know that...troll! (Response to another poster calling Jimbo on his "boredom") >There are trolls. Then there are those losers who prop 'em up. That's it. A serious thread that goes one week/424 posts and THAT is the entire contribution from FallRate. I'm NOT saying he doesn't have the right to say what he said or only contribute drivel to serious discussions or anything else - he does have the right to post whatever he wants within the rules. But I do think it is ironic that HE is the one screaming troll, or in the case of this thread, you. Seems like there is a direct correlation between the level of discomfort with the subject matter (Bush, lies, dead Americans, dropping poll numbers...) and the likelihood that someone (dittoheads) will call troll, even if it isn't. Sure, you can adjust the definition of troll to suit your own needs and MAKE it fit, but I don't think that makes it right - I think it is a form of attempted censorship and complete bullshit. QuoteDo you have any clue about what's going on the or S.A and why? I was in the US military for just a couple of years. Yeah....I do know a thing or two about S.A. One of those things is that being Anti-American plays well in South American politics because NOBODY wants to be percieved as an "American Puppet." I think that has a lot to do with why communism and left wing politics are so popular there. There are MANY other causes but that's a big one.

I think that has a lot to do with why communism and left wing politics are so popular there. There are MANY other causes but that's a big one. There are as many or less Anti-Americans in South America. There are a lot of people, the majority that are Pro - Americans, Chavez did not become president because he is Anti-America. When he ran for the presidency he was a Democrat perhaps his military past. After he got elected he took off his mask and became more or less Communiist or what's called soft communiism, do you think the Venezuelan people like to give away the oil to Cuba instead of selling it? Thats just one of the problems, Who do you think are his Body guards, all cubans . He does not trust The military and only the ones he knows are loyal to him are armed meaning the airforce has not missils or any other weapons. Is very complicated and you will have to be there to fully understand, not just only what my sargent told me. Everything goes back more than ten years ago, and is actually very interesting how every litle thing plays a role in Politics , Why do you think we paid almost $2.00 gal of gas last year, Venezuela was the first or second oil suplier to the US. Of course I dislike the president of Venezuela, there are more people dying avery weekend in Caracs only than a weekend in Irak and nobody gives a crap unless you have family there. tbrown 26 #17 March 7, 2004 Venezuelan President brands George Bush an 'asshole' Aside from a "Bravo!" for stating the obvious, the guy's a goner. He obviously doesn't remember what the more moderate Nixon/Kissinger crowd did to Chile in '73. He'll find out though. Oh, just to be fair about it, Chavez is also an asshole.
