AggieDave 6 #51 March 2, 2004 Quote1) buy two guns (if you can afford them) a .22 and whatever caliber pistol for self defense. you can practice with the .22 for a fraction of the cost of shooting the larger caliber gun, and the principles are the same. You can get a 1911 and get the conversion slide/barrel/magazine. Then you can switch back and forth, although you'll want to still fire .45 to learn the feel and to make sure the ammo you use will feed correctly. That brings up another very good point, you want to fire your "carry" ammo atleast every other trip to the range. Why? Well for one it proves that it will feed, fire and eject correctly and two, in my experience "carry" ammo feels different when you fire it, you want to get used to that feel so it won't catch you off guard if you actually have to fire it for real.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Kennedy 0 #52 March 2, 2004 I love it! Now two calibers is a good thing. Let's not forget that a .357 Magnum will fire .38 Special with no extra cost or parts. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You can also get a .22 barrel for the G17. And some of the 40 and .357sig Glocks have interchangeable barrels.

Misslmperfect 0 #55 March 2, 2004 just curious..whats your reason for not reccommending a ruger? i had a KP94 not too long ago, just got rid of it actually, and i never had a problem with it. my dad's always owned rugers and this one he gave to me. he never had a problem either. i have a glock 26 now and like it even more, but still..just wondering what your experience was with rugers melOh Canada, merci pour la livraison! AggieDave 6 #56 March 2, 2004 My experience with Rugers? Bad. I've "played" with probably 25 different Rugers, many of the same model, some of a different model. All of them felt sloppy, shot sloppy and I've seen more Rugers jam on the range then any other weapon.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
