dropoutdave 0 #1 February 29, 2004 Seventeen firefighters have quit their jobs because a female colleague discussed her pornography career while at work in the fire station. It happened in Keyes, a town of 4,500 people south of Modesto in California, which is served by a small volunteer fire service. The irate firefighters walked out claiming that Alexa Jones had talked about pornography while at work with her husband - Assistant Fire Chief Roger Jones. Captain Herb Collier, one of those who resigned, said: "We feel pretty strongly that there needs to be a separation between the pornography and the fire service." Alexa Jones has a website that promotes her pornographic material but does not mention her job as a firefighter. She stars in videos under a pseudonym. She said: "If they're going to be out there, I might as well be making money off them." Her husband said: "It's called freedom of expression, and speech also. It's not illegal." The resignations leave Keyes with eight firefighters. Nearby stations have pledged to help the department respond to emergencies. ananova.com Bunch of friggin pusses. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces...... popeyefireman 0 #6 February 29, 2004 I have been in the fire station when they were watching a porn, not just talking about it. Come on PC is cool and all, but that is kinda stupid to quit. lawrocket 3 #7 February 29, 2004 Yes, the Central Valley is full of scandal. This is going on by Frresno, and it was some talk of the town a couple of months ago, though it has pretty much died down. There's more to it, like a bust. No, not her bust, but a police bust when she was making some money on the side. I think that these firemen who resigned are probably not telling everything that is going on. Or, their wives and girlfriends are a bit upset. Mind you, it's a small farming community. What do YOU think they'll be like? My wife is hotter than your wife.

They did not quit their jobs, they were volunteers. When you quit a volunteer dept. that means you don;t go to the meetings on Wed. And like someone else posted, I think the water is deeper then it looks. Sparky (Retired Fire Capt.) im sorry but that is simply not true. I am a volunteer fire fighter/EMT. Many many fire depts (including mine) cannot operate without volunteers. There is simply not enough money. When you quit a volunteer dept. it means your dept is short when a fire call comes in. When 8 people quit, it probably means mutual aid will be called on every structure fire or MVA. This probably will cost the dept money. It also ads significat time (especially if this town is in the middle of nowhere) to when the needed personel will get there..which costs money if its a fire, and lives. Volunteers are the lifeblood of many many departments, and that is no exaggeration!

What I am saying is you do not make your living as a volunteer FF/EMT. You have a real job that pays the bills. An all volunteer dept. is a social club with the Chief and officers being elected. The dept. you work for is not a volunteer dept. It is a paid dept. that is understaffed and use unpaid citizens to fill in. Some depts. use what is called "paid call" firefighters. The dept. trains them to a minimum level and they are paid either by the call or by the hour when asked to respond. tbrown 26 #12 March 1, 2004 Watching porn is one thing. I like it myself, once in awhile, for about ten minutes before it gets too stupid or boring. The thing is, watching or not watching is a choice. Hearing somebody talk about it at work can really be a drag. I used to work for a well known aircraft company that manufactures wide body jets that most of us have flown on (this company might be located near Seattle). We had a woman in our department who was something of a nympho and all she ever did was talk about it. And talk about it, and talk about it, and talk about it. It got to be a real drag really fast. Aside from the fact that she never did any work, there were her endless accounts of all things oral, anal, etc. It was really incredible, given this company's rigid policies concerning sexual harassment. The thing is, even if we hated her, nobody wanted to be the "rat" to make a complaint, because ratting carries some very bad karma with it. She finally did herself in by putting a picture of her boyfriend, naked and with a big hard-on, on her computer screen as a background (a huge no-no and easily detected by the company web police). She was canned spam in no time flat and nobody shed a tear for her. So if you want to make it big in the porn industry, fine & dandy, go for it. But don't inflict it on the people around you who aren't interested, it WILL get you in the end. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
jumpinfarmer 0 #13 March 1, 2004 Wrong! I'm a volunteer in a surburban/rural dept. an all volunteer department. Last year we responded to just over 1,000 calls and know one got paid. Yes it is a social organization but we're also a service provided to the comunity and payed for by tax dollars. Where I'm from here in NY most all of the fire protection is from volunteers, only the large cities have paid firefighters. Now back to the topic! We watch porn all the time after drills and meetings. Whats wrong with these guys? as said before there must be more to it than we know. As a side note. One winter night after drill we had a "training film" playing on the big TV in the meeting room. Know one noticed that the blinds were open on the windows. After a short while the attendant at the gas station accrost the road called and asked about the movie. From now on the blinds get shut.

You start out with "Wrong", go back and read my post and tell me what I said that was wrong. Second, if you ever make it to a Paid department you will find that porn, either print or movies will get you fired. You can do it at home but the Fire Station in not yours, it belongs to the citizens. Your "training film" I bet made a "good" impression.
