What's the most "controversial" movie ever?

I'd say this is the most controversial movie OF ALL TIME, I mean, look at the cast alone.

Without looking - I bet it's DZ.com - The Movie!

Don't know. There have been many that have claimed to be the most controversial ever, but which one is, I don't know.

Song of the South

Good choice for a controversial film.

It's not actually all that controversial except with the people that have never seen it or don't understand where the stories come from.

Disney, as whimpy as they've become over the last several years, won't release it on video in the U.S. although if they did they'd have a pretty big seller on their hands as the stories are popular. The biggest issue is really white guilt. The characters are amazingly popular considering how very few people have actually ever seen the movie.

How about the film of that guy in Germany cutting bits off of, cooking the bits of, eating the bits with, and eventually killing (and I assume further cooking and eating) that other guy?

The controversy, of course, is not just in the digustingness, but in whether he committed a crime, and which crime(s) he committed. Euthanasia? Entertainment? Murder? Dinner?

A Clockwork Orange was banned in Britain for like 20 years, they just allowed it to be sold there a few years ago from what I understand.

Nope.

Care to elaborate? :D I had a Religious Studies prof that said it had been banned, I'm just curious.

I'm trying to remember the last time Disney re-released the movie in theaters and I want to say something like 1977-78ish.

Occassionally you'd see one of the animated segments in a Wonderful World of Disney comp reel or something, but I don't think the -entire- movie has been shown in the U.S. for about 25 years or so.

edited to add

Ah, after doing a little digging . . .

It was the 1972 re-release I had remembered.

It was also briefly re-released in 1986 for it's 40th anniversary.

"Kids" and "American histroy X"

those are my votes

The little mermaid though was kinda disturbing with the priest and his boner

American History X was a great film

I was very bothered by the movie. don't think I've ever been able to sit through the beginning of the movie once without fastforwarding... I don't like the curbing scene at all!

If you believe -everything- your professors tell you, then you're short changing yourself educationally.

You shouold occassionally question the things they say and occassionally try to prove them wrong. If you do, make sure you have proof and don't do it in front of the entire class, but your instructor (unless he's a total asshat) will respect you more.

I actually HAVE a copy of 'Vulgar'..I got it from one of those $9.99 bins... Thats a hard title to beat some mentioned here, but NO one I've tried to hand it to wants to see it. My votes are: Last Temptaton (most people who b***hed had no clue) and the Exorcist. I still can't watch it alone!~~April

Camelot II, the Electric Boogaloo!

I can respect that.

For the record, it was Kallend, a professor, who told me my other professor was wrong. :D There is a certain level of irony in all that.

Lesson? Go look it up for yourself....and off I go to do that now.

Salo was definitely some sick shite! I worked in an 'art cinema' as a projectionist and I hated to put that on the screen each showing.....

I agree with most everyone's choices, but Salo was the sickest ever (and DO NOT rent it for the curiosity of seeing just how sick it was......you'l be sorry!)

Clockwork Orange was definitely a shocker when it came out! But what a flick!

American History X had some great acting. I still haven't seen 'The Believer' about antisemitism that is supposed to be good though controversial..
