captain1976 0 #1 October 20, 2010 Can anyone enlighten me on any pros or cons with the use of an older F111 Raven III canopy using a 25 zero P collapsible pilot chute? PeteS 0 #3 October 20, 2010 Counting on everything else being compatible. That means if you are not stuffing it into too small of a container that might be a struggle for the bag to come out. I don't think it would be too much of a problem at terminal. you might want to adjust your emergency procedures for a low altitude slow speed bailout. Don't make the stows too big or tight. 1- 1.5 inches should be plenty to hold the canopy in the bag during extraction from the container.
riggerrob 643 #4 October 20, 2010 A Raven III canopy (249 square feet) is a comparatively heavy canopy. While a 25 inch ZP pilot-chute might work at terminal velocity, it cannot be trusted at lower altitudes and slower deployment speeds. For hop-and-pops, I would want more like a 32 or 36 inch diameter pilot chute.
