Do Europeans have a death wish?

Recommended Posts

After reading a couple of threads in the skydiving forums (one guy wants a 1.6 wl Katana at 100 jumps and I believe the other is babbling on about a crossfire), it seems to me that Europeans have more of a death wish than Americans. Do you think this is the case?

You could entertain yourself and real all the old post from people all over wanting stupidly small canopies for their level. Stupidity is not regionalized....

I realize this, and the poll is mainly a joke, but these guys are babbling on about how their instructors are putting the on xfires and shizzy, so I just figured... I know if I asked peeps at my DZ for a xfire at around 100 jumps they'd simply laugh their asses off.

There's plenty of crazy North Americans as well. I mean I've been some what aggresive with my downsizing. Of course I've yet to "knock on wood" crater in. But some Europeans do have a different view point towards this sport.

Benny, I think that otter avatar caused your IQ to drop by like 75 points or so. You used to be so serious and smart, but now you use words like "shizzy" and "dizzy" (not like vertigo). :P;):D

It's not the avatar, I'm jus' feelin my new ghetto name ho...;) you best step off befo' I pop a capB| Besides, with my liberal inclinations, seriousness simply gets me derided around here. Something I'm not too fond of.

I think this comes from the perception that Europeans don't force safety regulation upon each other unless the consequence would be the injury of a third party. For example, when I lived in Italy, there was this swinging chair thing at fairs. The people on the swings would fling each other outward to get really high in the air. People occassionaly went flying off to their death because the chair broke. The attitude being, it's your ass, you do what you want. Back in the US, if you did that in the chairs then you'd get kicked out of the amusement park.
