ladyskydiver 0 #1 October 6, 2003 I'm in Cali....where I wanted to be, right? The move wasn't the easiest. There's a ton of things wrong with where I'm living. I don't have the use of a stove. No garage door opener. Took a week to get my electric in my name and Michele had to get that arranged. No home phone so my cell phone has been used - YIKES!!!! It hurts big time when you go over the amount of minutes you selected. So...why? Why do I now sit and pack again? Why am I contemplating a move all the way across the country - again? Michele's here...we're hanging out. I know a few DZ.commers in Cali and enjoy their company. Elisnore is a great DZ. So...why do I now look at my apartment and see everything in boxes? The reason....I'm taking a chance. I'm jumping in with both feet. Do I have a reserve? Yes. Do I think I'll need it? Absolutely not. I'm nervous...I've picked up the moving truck and have gotten help loading it. Racenic rocks! He's helping me, again, load the moving truck. Michele rocks - she's not feeling good and even though I keep asking her to sit down and not help, she's helping me load up - even though I know she's hurting with my decision. VanillaSkyGirl is a doll! She stops over to help and ends up running around picking up beverages and is able to stay for a bit and dinner. I was able to talk some landscapers into loading the piano on the truck. They were really sweet and didn't accept payment. And, today's the day....the reason that I'm moving across the country is coming here to Cali. I'm nervous...what if I made a mistake? What if we don't like each other in person? What if....???? Yikes!! And, I'm now off to the airport to meet JmpnKramer. I get to the airport early as I'm nervous and don't want to be late. We've spent so much time on the phone and get along so well. We already love who each other is....now the test...is he really as wonderful in person as he is on the phone? Will he like me in person? Yikes!!! Ok...I can't wipe sweaty palms on my dress. We've arranged that I'll wear a dress to meet him and he'll wear a suit. DAMN!!! WOW!!! HOLY SHIT!!! I'm a very lucky and happy girl. His eyes are even more gorgeous in person. He's way sexy. And, his hug? All I can say is I have entered heaven. Whew! Nerves are gone. It's like we've known each other for ages...like we've always known each other. Soulmates? Yes, I believe so. We go back to my place and there's hardly anything left in it. We'll be there through Sunday and it's only Thursday. And, we're going to meet Michele for dinner this evening at Olive Garden. We spent some time talking and enjoying each other's company and off we go to meet Michele. She's tired but gives me a big hug. She then gives JmpnKramer a hug and picks him up. I love the look on guy's faces when Michele picks them up. We go into the restaurant and have a lovely dinner which is over way too soon. We spend a few more minutes talking with Michele outside, give our hugs and then off to the apartment. Are we nuts? Maybe...but it feels so very right. Friday comes and we spend the day running errands. We'd planned on going to the beach but don't make it. JmpnKramer thinks it's cold. It's 80's but the beach would have colder water. Even though we got a ton done, we didn't get everything accomplished we wanted. And, as we're going to Perris on Saturday, we need to get some sleep. Saturday morning arrives and it's cloudy, but who knows what it'll be like at Perris. We get a few more errands accomplished and drive to Perris. JmpnKramer is hoping to meet up with Kate and talk to her and maybe jump with her. I'm hoping to get in 1 jump with him and then cheer him on if he gets to jump with Kate. We couldn't find Kate, but met up with a few DZ.commers. We ended up on a 16 way that never built. I'm used to wearing weights when jumping and doing 16 ways, and the fall rate wasn't what I expected so I went low. Kept trying, but didn't succeed in getting back up to the formation. See JmpnKramer landing a bit off so I follow him. And, well...I'm not used to the "thinner" air and how quickly my canopy flies at Perris and biff in. Tore the knee on my jumpsuit and ended up with a nice scab. Ended up really sore but was willing to do another jump with JmpnKramer. Unfortunately (or fortunately), he didn't want me jumping again after having witnessed my biff in. So, we call it a day. I try to hang out and talk with people, but eventually, the pain gets to me and while talking to Racenic, I ask JmpnKramer if we could go. I'm hurting and need to go. I give hugs and we're off. He's adorable and drives for me back to the apartment and takes as good of care as possible of me. Sunday comes and we're supposed to do breakfast with Michele. Unfortunately, we're running late even though we got up at 5:30am. We don't have things ready so we decide we'll see if Michele will go to a fast food joint for breakfast instead of the regular restaurant. JmpnKramer's supposed to be at work at noon on Tuesday, and we're going to be cutting it close. It doesn't work out with Michele so we give hugs and she leaves. JmpnKramer and I get things finished and are on the road. It's a ton later than we wanted. Well...hopefully, we'll make it in time for him to get to work. We decide to take turns driving to save on time and expenses. Ok...how's the truck going to handle? Wow! It works! Penske is definitely the truck that we'll rent should we ever move again. Our first day goes wonderfully. No arguing...nothing...and we're stuck in a cramped vehicle together. Impressive! We stop for a 3 hour nap and then I take over driving. On our second day of driving, we take only a 2 hour nap. I couldn't drive any more so I ended up pulling over. I found out a few things on our drive. 1 - It is an absolute must to get out of the vehicle and walk around every couple of hours or your legs will swell up like ballons. 2 - It is a requirement when driving in the south to go to more populated places when getting gas in order to prevent putting yourself in a situation that might turn bad. 3 - Colds suck when driving in a vehicle for 60+ hours. 4 - Don't plan on a trip that is supposed to take "48 hours" to take 48 hours. Plan on 60 hours. (No...JmpnKramer didn't make it to work. He had to call his boss.) And, even though I've not met too many ZHills jumpers, I was given help by BRaf, Drew, F1Freak to get the piano upstairs into JmpnKramer's place. Thank you!!!! So, here I sit in Florida. Moving things in and working on getting the place organized. ZHills will be my new home DZ (which is 4 minutes from the house...yeah!!!). I've got an interview lined up for tomorrow. And, the best thing about my move? I'm starting a life with JmpnKramer who I love and adore. He rocks! I'm one lucky woman.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! jmpnkramer 0 #2 October 6, 2003 I have been talking to this Wonderful Woman for a few weeks and cannot believe she is not attached. We are on the phone for hours and hours talking about many different topics. It seems as though we have known each other forever. She keeps on talking of this move to California and I ask why there. She says she would like to try it out for a couple of years. Obviously she does not pick up on the hint that I want her to be closer to me. So I stay up extra late one night mapping the best route to California for her. I just had to remind her that she was making her journey on a holiday weekend. She scolds me for bringing that up. After many long hours of driving at ridiculously slow speeds because of truck failure she makes it to California. I am happy to know that she made it safe. Just as in loading up the truck in Wisconsin there are any individuals willing to help unload at her new home. The individuals include MjoSparky, RippedCord, Racenic, and Michele. What an excellent group of individuals. She arrives and is already off to Las Vegas with a friend from back home. Cora continues to call me very evening and her friend Shelley razes her hard for it. I get my tickets and because I am positive we will click I reserve tickets for Thanksgiving. We continue to talk and she is not a happy camper as there are things wrong with her apartment. I inform Cora that it is bad karma stating that California is not for her. I will not repeat what has already been stated in her post. As we continue to talk I ask her what she is doing for Thanksgiving. Cora tells me that she wants to fly home. Damn! There goes that surprise. I was going to fly there and try to Surprise her for the Holiday and stay until after her B-Day. Since that is out I tell of my plans. Cora is elated at the thought and upset that she ruined it. I say no biggie and we start making plans to just go ahead and meet in Wisconsin. Conversation's get really in depth and one thing leads to another as we decide to move her back here to Florida when I come out. WOW! How did this happen? We discuss how each of us thought we were going to be free for a bit longer from a relationship. Neither of us think it is the wrong decision though as we made it together. Counting the days until we meet is very nerve racking. The day finally arrives. I get to the airport. Checking bags is easy, no hassles at all. The security screening to get to the airplane on the other hand is ridiculous. The one guy is a real jerk-off. I guess they have to have one at each station though. Although I now cannot find my Pro-Track as I let that fool go through my bag without me being able to pay close attention. I was watching the guy with my rig which I considered more important. He really did not even look at it though. I finally get through that fiasco and now am awaiting the plane. O.K. the battery does not work. Where are they getting it from the other side of the world? I finally get on the plane and we take off. Interestingly enough have a cool conversation with an older lady going to see her son. Both her Husband (Deceased) and son are pilots. Both were in the Navy; very cool as I am in the military also. We land in Tennessee and I have 10 minutes to make the connecting flight. It is a good thing that the plane is only across the corridor. I finally land in California and I am really nervous. Here I am meeting a woman whom I am bringing back to Florida with me. I get off the plane take the wrong escalator and have to walk around a bit to get on the right one. As I come down the escalator I see the most stunning woman in a Blue dress. She anxiously waits for me to come through the doors and we embrace for the first time. It is the greatest feeling in the world as nothing else matters at that moment. I am in heaven. We spend a fabulous weekend together although we did not get half of the things we wanted to get done. Sunday arrives and we are on the road. It takes 60+ hours and we did not argue once. I am nervous though because I have never seen my legs so swollen; not even after my surgeries were they that bad. Poor Cora is sick as a dog. It upsets her but I do my best to re-assure her that it is o.k. I¡¦ll do most of the driving so she can rest. Cora and I have now started our life together which looks to be a long and prosperous one. I know it seems foolish to dive in so fast but we are extremely happy. I would just hope that everyone wishes us luck. Thank You. At this time I would like to thank all those individuals who helped Cora get loaded, unloaded, loaded, and unloaded again. Neither of us can Thank-You enough for all that was done. First on the list is Michele, she did much of the leg work on getting Cora set up in California and respected our decision to wait for us to post our decision. Racenic, who was there for both the unloading and loading of the moving truck. Plummet along with others in Wisconsin. Ripped Cord, Vanilla Sky Girl, MjoSparky, Bill Rafferty, Drew (Mini-Box), and Travis (F1Freak). The last three had the pleasure of lifting the piano to a second floor Condominium around five corners on the way up. Good thing B-Raff had a good plan. If I happened to miss someone I apologize.
