As a paratrooper, while most disliked N/CE jumps, I loved them. Course, I had a bit of an advantage usually being the Jumpmaster for my team. To me there was nothing as beautiful as standing in the door of a C-130 on a warm summer night with a full or partial moon, a symphony of stars, the sound of those engines and the smell of the exhaust. Even in skydiving, I wear out the DZs when a full moon comes around. The ride up, the door opening, being in freefall and seeing all the lights on the ground, the stars, the moon and the absolute feeling of freedom. Bigun - well that worked out in many ways. It began with my size and Oklahoma colloquialisms. In SF, it worked out as being a five letter, no same letter code name.
